Since a lot of bands remaster their old stuff, should LP remaster HT? Since it's only been 13 years

Well, I'm sure that just about everybody around here would agree that "Hybrid Theory" doesn't need remastering at all ... and, besides, that album and several other LP albums have already been "mastered for iTunes" or whatever.

Hybrid Theory's current recording is absolutely fine, I see no reason to remaster it, it still sounds great. Now what we really need is a re-mix of Living Things.

Not before the Xero demo tape, though. :kappa:

Hybrid Theory doesn't really sound high quality, though. That's like the main difference between HT and Meteora, which is basically perfect in that sense.

I would love a remaster, with a new booklet, perhaps some old demos they haven't released (or some songs from the EP). Something different that won't make me feel like I have the album 3 times  (I already have two copies, standard and special ed.)

It doesn't need it in my opinion, I find the HT mastering perfectly fine as it is.

Now, a remastered/re-recorded version of the Xero tape, as an LPU CD for example, would be great. It will never happen though.

Yeah I agree even though HT is better than Meteora IMO, but idk it feels like Mike's rapping in HT
is soft compared to Meteora I find that a difference but that's just me.

Unless the initial production was absolutely terrible, remastering a digitally-sourced recording is completely pointless IMO.

I also hate how the word "remaster" has been bastardized to the point that it now refers to any instance of an artist going back and "redoing" an album without actually re-recording anything. Mastering only refers to the process of achieving the final volume/compression levels found in a recording. Once you start playing around with anything other than volume and compression, it's no longer a remaster, it's a remix.

There's HD audio versions of ALL the studio albums.

No need for a remastered version.

This. The only thing I can see left doing with Hybrid Theory is something similar to what Pearl Jam did with the re-release (20th anniversary) of their record Ten where they re-recorded the album 20 years later. For those who haven't checked it out yet, I highly suggest it. The subtle differences are pretty cool.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Ten: Redux a new mix, not a re-recording?

You're right. I was under the impression that it was re-recorded. It sounds significantly different than the original which is why I thought so. It sounds like it was re-recorded. It is not as "murky" as the original and it sounds very clean. Good catch, though. Needless to say, I think something like that is all that could be left for LP to do with HT.

I would be greatly intrigued with this. I think a re-recorded Hybrid Theory would be a fantastic idea!

It's good the way it is. If any album needs a remaster it would be LIVING THINGS
