The contest was first announced by the band in late October, with participants being encouraged to submit remixes of their Steve Aoki-assisted single before the late-November deadline and win prizes provided by Indaba and Microsoft. You lost me at "dubstep"... But I gave it a listen and it's exactly what I thought it would be. I won't even bother with the other remixes.
Wasn't the point of the line "waiting for a light that never comes" to compare a light that never comes to a drop that never comes in the song? The winner kind of misses the point of the contrasting lyrics/structure. Musically it isn't great either.
I liked it! But i see Indaba is filled with jelly ''I'm better than you'' people. Kinda annoying. Congrats winner, whoever you are!
Actually based on mixing/engineering this is a very solid remix imo. Wasn't my favorite admittedly, but he gave a lot of attention to the dynamic range in the song. Some of the remixes submitted had a great concept but didn't have much in the way of mixing or dynamic range.
You guys are crazy, that DJ Altomani is obviously the best. It's like a Daft Punk LP remix I'd hear playing Persona 4. I love it. Edit: Seriously I can't get enough of this, does anyone have any more disco remixes of LP? lmao
Man why the fuck are Linkin Park jumping on the dubstep bandwagon this late? Dubstep is now far more dragged out than Nu-Metal was. It's fucking everywhere. How can they say they distanced themselves from Rap/Rock because it became too overdone and overplayed and then release a remix album consisting of various dubstep remixes. And hey, guess what, the winner of this contest was also a dubstep remix. Fuck me. I don't dislike dubstep, nor did I dislike Recharged (despite it being the weakest album the band have released by some distance), but the band's direction the past few years has really surprised me.
To be fair, there was only one dubstep remix on "Recharged", and it joins only two other official dubstep remixes of Linkin Park songs to date.
Okay, maybe not full of dubstep remixes (there being two on Recharged), but nonetheless why distance yourself from one exhausted genre and to join another exhausted genre?
The 22Bullets mix is really cool. The part after the 'Waiting for a light that never comes' Chester scream it almost sounds psytrance-like. Gotta love that drop. Lets dance :3
