Taken from Slipknot's Official Website: Noooo. I don't see how the band can continue now. With two of the founding members and principle songwriters gone, I just don't see a future for the band anymore. This is a really sad day for me.
Man, that sucks :/ I hope they will still be able to carry on, but it will surely be very difficult now.
slipknot is more unique IMO, SS can be kind of generic. Pretty broken up about this. Joey was a sick drummer. Won't be the same without him.
I see what you mean. I do enjoy both bands, I just enjoy Stone Sour more. Slip knots early stuff is really good, but once Stone Sour came around both bands became kind of the same in a way.
Eeh....no. And "generic" is a damn overrated and silly term btw. Nowadays, as soon as someone doesn't like a certain sound, he will almost automatically call it generic. Like, hip hop haters will say all hip hop songs are the same and sound generic. Same applies for rock or electro music. The real problem is, most of the time, people will call something generic because they don't take the time to get deeper into the sound they describe as such.
Eh I'm not a huge Slipknot fan (I literally only like Snuff and Vermillion pt 2 from them) so this news isn't devastating to me. And guys, Joey Jordison didn't die... he'll be in other bands I'm sure.
No he isn't dead. But I'm a fan of the band as it was. Joey was a founding member and major contributor to writing and producing not to mention he is a hell of a drummer. The band will most certainly take a hit with both him and paul gone.
Not me. And there's no need to go deeper into the sound... it's easy to notice if a song is generic or not. Also it's not exclusively a bad thing.
I haven't listened to Slipknot in years, but they definitely don't sound generic (although their last album was heading in that direction). They have an interesting way of incorporating a lot of heavier, more niche influences into a more commercial metal sound that sets them apart from other mainstream metal bands. Stone Sour just sounds like an above-average post-grunge band to me. On a less serious note, does this mean the clown dude is going to have to abandon the beer keg and baseball bat and start playing the drums?
I never thought of it that way, that might be the way to go lol or they can just stick some random fucking behind a curtain like they did with the new bassist...
Sad news indeed. I'm really intrigued to know why, considering he has stated in recent interviews he was knee deep in the writing process of the new album. If he was unhappy with continuing with SK then surely he wouldn't have got that far into the album writing process? Unless of course he was unhappy with the direction the rest of the bands music was taking?
Yeah I'm thinking that too. Still, if that's his reason then he's just being a little bitch. Also, lol at anyone who thinks Slipknot is generic. They're one of the most unique bands out there.
