Linkin Park have contributed their song "ROADS UNTRAVELED" for inclusion on a lengthy digital music compilation called "Songs for the Philippines". The compilation, released on iTunes through Universal International Music, will benefit those devastated by Typhoon Haiyan earlier this month, with proceeds from its sales going to Philippines Red Cross. Linkin Park also have other fundraising initiatives in progress to support the Philippines in the wake of the disaster: money raised through "Recharge" in-game purchases will go to the band's charity organisation Music For Relief, as will portions from sales of the parka which Mike Shinoda recently designed in collaboration with 686. "Songs for the Philippines" is available worldwide on iTunes. Among the artists whose music is included on the 39-track album are Bruno Mars, Michael Buble, Alicia Keys, Katy Perry, Enrique Iglesias, Muse, Lorde, Kings of Leon, Ellie Goulding and Lily Allen. Agreed, would've been neat if they did, but most likely they're in too deep with LP6 or The Mall Soundtrack. A reworked demo like Not Alone could've been cool but this is still a great gesture from the band all the same.
Just some comments on the album: "Songs for the Philippines, yet most people in the Philippines can't afford to buy these songs." "I would have gladly bought it, but thanks to Justin Beiber been in it, I have to say no thanks, I'll contribute someother way." "...But the idea of homophobic provocateur Eminem being apart of the mix completely wrecks the worthiness of this gesture.." "God, please give us back tupac and you can take Justin Beiber." Okay, that last one wasn't on there, but the other comments are still pretty funny.
That's just some insensitive bullshit. It's not worthy of mention on this forums and, not even funny to my taste. People sometimes blur the line between "being humorous" and "being an asshole". The first one is completely stupid, it's not for them to buy but them to receive the income product of the purchases, I shouldn't even have to explain this but it's just too dumb.
I have a Word document full of stupid shit people say. That first comment is on there. Along with people complaining about the lack of lyrics on a soundtrack. It just makes me lose faith in humanity.
Just look at the reviews for the Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack on iTunes. People are actually complaining about the lack of lyrics and want songs by Eminem or something like that. Which the soundtrack was composed by Hans Zimmer, and it's one of my favorites. “That was lame dood. It should have songs like till I collapse, heartbreak warfare and stuff like that.” “Really guys, the game is terrible and the soundtrack doesn’t have lyrics” I'm not making this up. If I'm ever feeling down on myself I can just look at that document and I realize how grateful I should be for not being born that stupid. And it gives me something to laugh about (not all of it is completely stupid, some is just plain stupid "jokes").
