What was the point of using the last episode to set up a big emotional sympathetic story with the Governor, only to go right back to the sociopath shit the very next episode?
To show that he is beyond redemption I suppose. Much too hasty for my taste, but I'm not a big fan of The Governor anyways so good riddance to that little detour. It seems like everyone from Woodbury, or who took solace in being a part of Woodbury are pure idiots. Case in point, I fail to understand how a guy like Martinez could let down his guard in front of The Governor this early on. Overall, this episode was pure Season 3 terribad status.
So the epic prison battle from the comics is finally happening soon. This will either be the biggest downfall of Scott Gimple's writing team or this will erase "Welcome to the Tombs" from our minds. I'm nervous since Seth Hoffman is writing this episode. He co-wrote Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance with Gimple and David S. Goyer, but he also made episodes for House and Prison Break. I'll be really surprised though if the entire main cast survive. I doubt Hershel's gonna make it, though. But if Governor says "KILL THEM ALL" on the tank, it's gonna make my day. Ground rules for the thread: DISCUSS what has happened freely, without needing to use spoiler tags. USE SPOILER TAGS OR DO NOT DISCUSS what has not yet happened. That includes anything that happens during the comic story arc or anything that happens in "next week on" promos.
MOTHERFUCKING DICK SUCK CUNT FUCKING FUCK FUCKITY FUCK FUCKER FUCKING FUCK FUCKERS! Fuck. –Negan, Issue 117 Great issue, by the way. Love the ending scene.
Theories outside of comic knowledge should be fine, right? Tagging theories based on known TV SHOW events is dumb. I actually agree that all comic talk should be tagged though. Anyway, is there a way to post videos in spoiler tags because, every time I try it just posts it embedded.
That seems acceptable. I don't believe the spoiler tag covers embedded videos. Instead of embedding try just posting the URL.
It auto embeds. That's what I meant. If you use the invisitags, and post the url, it automatically embeds the video and that is then displayed outside the spoiler tags. :/
Oh, well in that case, just post the URL outside the invisitags with a "Spoiler:" prefix. It sucks, but it's a workaround. More on topic: So let me get this straight: They spend an entire episode deconstructing The Governor into this lonely, sad wanderer. He's docile, quiet, depressed, maybe even relatable. He finds a new group of people and starts building a new family that he can provide for. And then the next episode the writers are, like, *snap fingers* "fuck it, he's a psycho again, deal with it." What in the hell? This show is frustratingly bad at times. Fire everyone at that writers table.
PR statement: The point of showing the governor in a positive light and then immediately bringing him back down is to prove to viewers that he is beyond redemption. Thus, for The Governor, the season long question "Can you come back?" is a stern "No." Reality: More BS that they are treading over again, Season 3 proved that Phillip was an insufferable cunt and beyond redemption. Also, if the Governor shows up at the prison in the mid season finale, it'll basically be a rehash of the Season 3 finale, as it's the exact same scenario. Unpopular opinion, if no one important dies, I just might be done. I'm tired of the showrunners saying that no one is safe, and how that consistently is proven to be false. The only people to have died so far are either 1.) Redshirts, 2.) "Villains" 3.) Idiots. or 4.) Pragmatic turned Crazy.
Like, I would have understood if the little girl he was caring for got killed. That would be a believable emotional trigger. But no, he just went from being content with a new family to unbalanced psychopath overnight. Jesus, how can they write this stuff and expect people to be okay with it? This show could be so much better.
I noticed something in the clip they showed on Talking Dead POSSIBLE SPOILERS: So The Governor is talking to people and he says the line "They will notice that their people are gone". This looked to be before the attack, and Michonne and Hershel was outside the prison... Kinda sloppy by the people responsible for the clips to let that pass
May or may not be spoilers but... I totally forgot the Governor was sometimes a dumbass in the comics as well.
Major difference between voicing a legitimate complaint and coming into the thread after every episode going "this show sucks LOL". Tread carefully, travz21. I've already asked you once.
