RANDOM THOUGHTS 25

I couldn't feel more ashamed or embarrassed by my own country until today. I happened to cross with a Hungarian tourist near my house, he was trying to get a cab like me. I decided not to stop one until he did, and he kept raising his arm while cabs went by and no one stopped. He asked me where else could he get a taxi as he wanted to go to the passenger's terminal. I was actually going to a house near it so I told him to come with me and walk down the street.

He was blonde, with a ponytail and was wearing a t-shirt, shorts, croc-styled sandals and a small backpack. He looked like a surfer.

As we went down to the bus stop I kept trying to stop a cab and no one would stop, some of the cars were occupied, understandable, but some of them were empty. I couldn't understand. Were these people shrugging us off because of his looks? I had never had such trouble calling a taxi before, so I don't really know what was the deal.

Time was passing, buses were coming and going, cars passsed by, and still no cab would pick us up. I was frustrated, and embarrased for people here to be such assholes. It was starting to rain. After about half an hour a cab FINALLY stopped. I asked him to take me to my friend's house and while at it, make a small stop at the terminal to drop the tourist, and the driver said "I will charge double for that". Fuck dammit, asshole, he's a god damn tourist, and the fucking terminal is ON THE WAY to MY destination, you don't even have to take a different route.

We agreed because we had waited too long. I was pissed off and frustrated. I got nothing else to offer to the tourist other than a pat on the shoulder and "good luck". What a shameful display of the people in this country.

 

Fuck yes. Exams done and throat is better than ever. Freedom!

 

hey, it's cool that you did the right thing by helping him out though. I'm sure he'll keep in that in mind when looking back on it.

Damn, sorry for that too and I know the feeling. Here every single thing like a street asphalt maintenance gets plastered with a giant billboard and the politician's face. DUDE, THAT'S NOT YOUR MONEY, it's YOUR obligation, it's not a "favor" you're doing to us and we don't "OWE" you anything for it, not even a vote.
