    THE CALL: 8/10

It got me gripping on what will happen next and yet it ended up like the same as old killer movies - predictable.

    THE FROZEN GROUND: 7/10

A story based on a compelling character but was presented in a dull, boring way.

The Descent (2005) - 5/5 - Holy shit this movie scared the hell out of me. Extremely well made and very scary. I'd say its one of the scariest films to come out in the last 10 years at least.

That scared the shit out of me too. Still relies too heavily on jump scares for my tastes. Unfortunately that's mostly all horror movies do now.

There are a few of those yes, but there were also moments (esp before the crawlers are introduced) that were slow-burns solely based on the cave environment and claustrophobia.

I enjoyed the premise but not that one death, you know the one that really shouldn't have happened...and all the high-pitched screaming.

The one where the chick accidentally swung around thinking it was a creeper and hit that other chick instead - it was stupid.

It made perfect sense imo. She was scared shitless trying to swing at anything that was coming at her. What happened didn't seem far fetched at all to me.

Thor: The Dark World - 7.5/10 - It was ok. Story-wise, it was pretty good, but Malekith isn't a good villian such as Loki. Some plot twists were predictable for me, but the ones that aren't were good. Humor was slightly better this time. To be honest, I liked Iron Man 3 more, but it's still an ok movie. Tom Hiddleston has the best scenes, though, and that's not a lot.

PS There's a mid and post credits scene. The mid credits scene is EXTREMELY vital to the Marvel Universe, while the post credits scene was like the Iron Man 3 scene - useless but fun.

Oh, and there's a cameo there that's absolutely hilarious. Not just the Stan Lee one.

You went to the London premiere? .-. How does one see Thor: The Dark World already?

^ Hot damn. I like your review, and it makes me all the more excited - I was immediately more interested when I initially found out Alan Taylor was directing, considering his GoT episodes are the bees knees.

Just went almost halfway through The Conjuring, thought it was a piece of shit, asked Tim if I should continue, he said I shouldn't. I mean, people like this? What the hell? This is the exact opposite of what a horror film should be, if you ask me. I won't rate it, because I didn't see the whole thing, but yeah. I didn't really like it since the start, it didn't get me intrigued, but I gave it a chance. Then the scares, and more scares, or should I spell it, "scares", because they were laughable. Ugh.

Probably still better and more logical than The Walking Dead.

The Conjuring (2013) - 4/5 - As far as scares are concerned this movie is full of them and almost all of them are effective. That's where I got my main enjoyment out of watching the film. Some of the dialogues and acting was a little sloppy though and I wish they'd embraced the 70s aesthetic a bit more. Overall a pretty awesome watch.

Thor: The Dark World - 3/5

Decent and fun movie, but really nothing more than that. Story was okay but at times, I feel like they could've gone the extra mile. Malekith isn't that much of an interesting villain. Some scenes were awesome (especially the last fight was... interesting and original). I also give them props for the use of practical visual effects (Dark Elves f.e.) instead of using CGI. Even though the villain isn't that good, he didn't look fake.

Loki steals the show yet again. The other main characters are solid and well acted... outside of Darcy Lewis (Jane's friend w/e). I can't stand that character, my god. Slow down with the jokes, pls.

The humor in general (or rather, the amount of the humor and the timing) is one of my main complaints of the movie. I wish the movie took itself a bit more seriously. The humor is, most of the time, decent but it just doesn't feel right when one-liners and jokes are thrown at you every two minutes. Especially when there's some pretty serious shit going on. Because of this, it was hard for me to ever get invested in the story.

Closing thoughts: I would say this movie is more fun than the first one (due to the bigger scale, more action, better special effects and the amount of laughs you'll get-even though I think they went overboard with it at times) but for me, the first one is the better movie.
