Yeah, I'm keeping in mind the fact that they commissioned a bunch of acclaimed underground artists to craft a diverse piece of work that surpasses the original. This? This is a collection of, for the most part, boring house/dubstep remixes of songs from a largely mediocre album by a bunch of unknowns and DJs that should've stayed unknown. Yes Datsik, I want you to not only remove all of the progression from one of my favorite LP songs, but make it incredibly repetitive and last for six goddamn minutes. Even the rap remixes I was looking forward to don't really have good beats and rely solely on the verses Mike and company wrote.
It's not THAT bad. EDM is taking over the charts for a reason. I didn't appreciate it before as well, but I did indeed find some of the tracks to be really interesting.
Not even. People that I associate myself with are obsessed with EDM music and they absolutely dug these tracks. It's prompted them to seek out some other tracks the band has done. Moreover, it's not a major release is most definitely not a reflection of how much they have evolved as artists. It's an obscure fun one-off compilation of remix tracks. RECHARGED will accomplish the following: - further expand interest in the band - ease the curious within the established fanbase into EDM
Man, people love hating. I've got a favorite or two, but I'm not very interested in the rest, but it's not terrible. C-. EDIT: I've seen a fair bit of positivity outside of the LPA about the album. That says a lot.
This is something a lot of people have to get through their heads. Criticism is not hate. If I think an an album sucks and can back that up with reasons, that is not hating. It's not even a "man, fuck this dance shit" thing, because I love BT and Daft Punk. Hell, I'd rather LP go more electronic on their actual albums. It's just that these remixes were incredibly predictable and monotonous. I don't care what Mike says about how the structure of EDM songs is so different from rock when it's just the new generic. There's only so much of the same formula I can take and about forty minutes of bright synths climaxing into a thud-thud club beat or a sea of wubwubs is too much.
I find a dislike towards something and a hate towards something very different. Hate is a strong word, and I don't think that really cuts it for any kind of music-related release unless it's a major exception. I think at worst this album is generic, that's it. No offense, but on the previous page user 'Praydox' stated that in his opinion this album is the bands new low, and that to me is an extremely negative response, which isn't really called for under any circumstances [as said, this album is generic at worst]. 'smarky' went as far as to say the album gave him cancer, like holy shit dude, that's fucked up. To me, those kind of responses are hating, because they're expressing a major distaste for something when it's not really necessary/fair. These are modern remixes, these are just like any other remix you'll get nowadays. Any disappointment comes from ones own expectations. These people are going out of their way to express their extreme negativity towards the album, when really they're not the end of the world, and they're just as easily ignored as listened to. I don't really like extremely negative shit, especially towards something like this. Criticism is criticism until it becomes just blatant hate.
Preach it, Hawk. Yes. Disliking is something and hating is a different thing. I completely respect the opinion of the people who don't like this but some responses are just as low (and one of them even completely tasteless, as recalled above) as they claim the album to be.
I doubt that Recharged will stand the test of time as Reanimation... After second listening, I can say that this album is uneven, emotionless and generic, and beside few songs (ALTNC, COG), I will never listen to it again. Good day. *puts on a hat and walks away*
That isn't an extremely negative response at all. There will always be a low point in terms of albums for any band. They might all be amazing albums, but in terms of people, there will always be a "worst album". There's nothing wrong with that. All he's saying is that this is the weakest release that LP has put out. And that could very well be true for a lot of people. Deal with it, I say. You're overreacting.
Horrible remixes.... but I admit, I do like the odd few tracks on this album. But in all honesty, I wouldn't like to see Linkin Park go down this road on future records.
I felt a lot of emotion in the couple of new verses Mike put on here. Hell, even Ryu's verse had emotion in it.
I'm talking about the album as a whole. There are some emotions here and there (last third of COG - chills down the spine)...
I hope this little EDM-detour inspires them to experiment more with song structure, something they seriously should consider (correction: reconsider, cuz ATS). The song structures on LT leave me very indifferent and are the reason why that album hasn't aged well at all. Yes, high energy, radiofriendly tracks were pretty much the main purpose of LT but when something's uninspired, it's uninspired, which isn't something anyone should aim for.
I wouldn't say I'm overreacting at all. I'm simply drawing a line between criticism and straight hate. Describing "a new low" is a negative response. I've only ever heard that term used in that negative way. EDIT to come when I'm on my laptop.
