I came here to say the same thing. I thought the last 2 seasons have been horrid. It's so cool I just can't stop.
I thought you never liked the show since season 1. :O And judging from the reviews I saw this premiere was both extremely calm and slightly action-packed at the same time.
The supermarket sequence was good, but how the hell did those walkers start falling through? There was a fucking helicopter on that roof, for months probably, and it didn't fall through, but the walkers did, just at the right time? Yeah right. Also it's pitiful how this show gets rid of supporting characters. Someone has to die... can't be any of the main characters, let's just kill this dude over here, we don't need him... also it'll show how Beth's evolved... How about you leave someone alive for a fucking while. None of the prison inmates are alive anymore. Loved the woods scenes with Rick and that woman, though. Overall quite a solid premiere.
The first 20 minutes were really good. It gave me hope that they would start focusing on storytelling and producing a meaningful script. Then the store scene happened. All of the action on this show is forced instead of flowing naturally with the progression of the story. There is no real progression with The Walking Dead. It's just random chaotic events that drive the story forward. That has been my beef with it all along. It takes no talent to write that way. Anybody old enough to talk can make stories with the same quality as this show. When you don't have anything meaningful to do, you just add in some random event to move the story along. It is literally the most basic way to tell stories. It's like the exact opposite of the meticulously planned Breaking Bad. About 75% of the episode was moving in the right direction, and then there was still 25% faceplam. I could have looked past all the sudden new characters if they were truly rebuilding the show's quality which is what I initially thought, and I was fine with that. But now it's apparent it's just one big mess of a show.
I like how you say 75% of the episode was good, but still end the post on a negative note. Hell, I bet the most positive post of yours in this thread was negative. I'm not going to tell you to stop watching the show because all you do is complain, because I've already told you that, but come on. Also maybe you'd prefer the comic if you haven't tried reading it yet.
I thought Beth's little boyfriend would've been kept around as a something to make Carl jealous. Because in the zombie apocalypse the one thing that'll really make the kid snap is not getting the girl.

I don't see the goal of this series. To keep trying to survive while surrounded by morons and zombies? There is no direction to this story.
