It depends on how you define a "guest", but Linkin Park have also had The Dust Brothers, that NoBraiN guy, a shakuhachi player and a lot of strings players on their studio albums prior to "Living Things". Guest vocals have never happened outside of remix projects and the like, though, and I, for one, hope that it stays that way.
I honestly wouldn't call Owen Pallet's contribution to I'LL BE GONE a collaboration. The same could be said about Beck and David Campbell and all of them for the string songs back on Meteora and MTM.
I guess I refer to "collaboration" as anything that makes worthy putting "Featuring ________" in the tracklist next to the song's title. I specifically said "the closest", I didn't include it as a collaboration.
Totally forgot about you. One more "Public Enemy" in this thread. Back to topic: I'm not a fan of guests on studio albums (well except on hip-hop records) because those albums often lack unity. Collab songs just sound weird in the middle of an album. Know what I mean? But I wouldn't mind some gap-filling stuff til the next full record. Which we will definitely have with Steve Aoki, Mall, STP and LPU13.
Tbh I'd rather get all this before LP6. You know, something new every few months. Constant buzz for LP while having more time to work on their next studio album which will get more hype then all of these thrown together and multiplied by 25.
wow this is awesome news. the sooner they release studio versions of these new songs the better. i have just been listening to a live recording of ALTNC 24/7
Thank you! Always glad to be noticed but you didnt answer my question.. BTT it is obvious those songs if exist and if released will be for that fb game. Wich is ok average songs for average game. and about the gap-filling stuff between albums i agree with you. I really dont like so much this collaboration stuff because the names we get aren´t bigger names than those of LP (busta rhymes now this aoki guy) if we could get the names of eminem, daftpunk, metallica, well, that could be a different story. It could be worst too (bieber, montana, gaga, perry) Something a la Aerosmith-Run DMC... that was a collaboration.
People forget that Linkin Park/Mike & Chester have done MANY collaborations with artists (both large and relatively unknown) outside of main studio albums in their 15+ year career and it hasn't affected their albums, their sound, or delayed new album music. All it's done is produce MORE music. Just off of the top of my head: The X-Ecutioners Ft Linkin Park - It's Going Down (technically only Mike and Joe but billed as Linkin Park) Reanimation (entire album) Collision Course (album) "Rock and Roll" w/ Handsome Boy Modeling School Busta Rhymes Ft. Linkin Park - We Made It And numerous others that just Mike or just Chester have appeared on by themselves. Linkin Park are a collaborative band and like to appear on songs by other artists. They do this shit outside of albums all the time. The simple thing is, it's more music from the band. If people don't like EDM, they can easily skip it.
Hydroponikz - Hardly Breathe ft. Chester Bennington I always found the rapping in this song to be clunky and weird but Chester's verses were quite well done. Yeah, I know. Was just putting it out there for speculation
That was just Chester's part in "Rock and Roll Part 2" with some random guy rapping over a looped version of its intro.
