Then get aload of this shit here
Judging from the band's response it seems they truly believe they made a song worth listening to. Did they mean to be racist? I don't think so. Is it? Yeah, it's kind of offensive. I think they're just the type of guys who say this stuff in private about any race and decided to write a terrible song about it. The song being horrible doesn't help the listener swallow the offensiveness lol. I think their other songs are bad too. Guys with passion but not much talent. Edit: After listening again I think the song wouldn't be so terrible if it didn't rely on stereotypes for literally every line of the song. Like "This is what all asian girls do." Do that with any race and it just ends up as a crap song haha.
LOL, that was hilarious! I find it sad that people are getting offended by this. It's not supposed to be taken seriously, it's all in good fun. It's no different than what Steel Panther does all the time. It's supposed to be comedy, nothing more. If taken as a real song though, it's complete crap. I can't imagine whose idea it was to play the same 3 chords over and over and over again!
As comedy, it's terrible. Even removing the racism, it's a failure as both satire and a catchy tune, it sounds like Sugar Ray and One Direction had a baby and shat on it. It's like Carlos Mencia; just screaming racial epitaphs at random with no structure or point and trying to point at Dave Chappelle and say "Well what the fuck you let him do it!" not realizing how or why people liked it before.
I totally get the Sugar Ray vibe. To Gibleson: Listen to their other song, I don't think they're joking. And you can be as offensive as you want if it's hilarious. This is not funny and just a terrible song from a musical standpoint. And tons of songs play the same 3 chords over and over. Blink 182 built an empire on that theory lol.
If that's the case, then this is truly awful. I figured that these guys were like Steel Panther, *sigh*. Well, at least the girl was hot. Gonna go listen to some Prog Rock to relieve me from the monotonous chord progression of that song.
And in my opinion Steel Panther is GOOD. Musically they are on point. You can tell they're going over the top in a parody type way. Well executed, funny and even if you just watched a video with no knowledge you could guess it was a parody. Day Above Ground? Not so much.
Yep, songs like Death To All But Metal by them are great. Speaking of parodies, check out this Metallica/Journey mash-up by Rock Sugar.
To white men or teenagers. When you're all grown up and have to defend your actual stake in things, it all becomes a whole lot less hilarious and a whole lot more offensive.
Their "serious" song isn't much better. Paul Mooney's said some horrible shit that was hilarious.
I "like" this comment: "LOL So they think their the new Linkin Park or something? Shit this is actually worse than Linkin Park, I didn't think that was possible."
Totally. But with comedy most times the majority understands when something is funny and not funny. I think the majority would agree this was a badly executed song and not very funny in the way most "parody" songs are.
