What movies did you recently watch?

Is it better than OHF?

 

Yeah, I'd say so. My only gripe was that it felt so similar, but it was a very good movie.

 

Saw: The Final Chapter (2010) - Haters gonna hate, but I fucking enjoyed this, really! Much better than I expected. The acting was believeable, the story fast-paced, and the ending - guess what - surprising. Yeah, it was just plain bad at some moments, but since everyone hated it, I was surprised by how it wasn't actually that bad. 7/10

Hm... here we go:

Saw > Saw III > Saw VI = Saw II > Saw: The Final Chapter > Saw IV = Saw V.

 

Would You Rather - 1 out of 5

Promising, but predictable, sadistic, but flawed SAW ripoff. Brittany Snow is the only person who seems to react like any normal person would in the situation of a "contest" with ridiculous challenges, all to win the money you need for a one time reset of your life. The ending is both justified and frustrating somehow, despite probably resulting in the average moviegoer giving the "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" reaction.

White House Down - 3 out of 5

Better than Olympus Has Fallen from every angle.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation - 3 out of 5

Supercedes Rise of Cobra big time: It's upsetting that Duke gets taken out so easily after rising to the hero ballot last time, but Roadblock doesn't just fill his shoes, he walks in them. It's a really basic terrorism plot, however, and it's engulfed in non-stop action, especially the entire last half hour.

 

Iron Man 3 (2013): I liked it, the plot was cool, effects good, all in all good movie. I disliked him trying to be funny, at which he failed at 90% times. This is why I like Batman better. 7/10

Oh, and I dislike Gwyneth Paltrow. Really dislike her acting, appearance, and the couple of interviews I've seen. Sorry, Chris.

Gonna see Django Unchained tonight. Probably.

Platoon (rewatch)- 9/10 so good, real shame Charlie turned out the way he did.

 

Man of Steel - 8/10. There were some cheesy lines and some very conveniently miraculous scenes, but other than that it was a very good movie I thought. I enjoyed it way more than The Dark Knight Rises. I can't wrap my head around how good the effects were in this movie. And to think it cost $45 million less to make than Superman Returns!

Edit: I'm not a fan of the last few minutes. I was hoping to see a fresh take on Superman.

 

Why do you like her?

 

1. I have no reason to dislike her.

Abraham L.-Vampire Hunter. Pretty good.

 

Jack Reacher - 8/10.

I'm a sucker for these types of movies. I'm usually really critical of them, too. Some of the plot could have been explored more as it leaves you kind of wondering wtf happened, but it was decent enough. Cruise nails it every time no matter how crazy his personal life is.

 

^I hated that movie so much. Cruise acted like a wannabe Sherlock Holmes and it felt like the writers couldn't decide if the movie should be a thriller or a crime/mystery. The scenes were incredibly boring and lengthy. I'm not even trying to be a downer, but I really hated that movie. One of the worst I've ever seen.

 

The Expendables 2 - 7/10. Enjoyed it more than the first.

Pan's Labirynth - 9/10. Why did it take me so long to see this?

The Last King of Scotland - 8.5/10. Forest Whitaker, what an actor. McAvoy, too.

V For Vendetta - 8/10. Great performance from Weaving even though you never see his face.

Cop Land - 7.5/10. Stallone is underrated as an actor.

Star Wars Ep IV - 7/10.

The Empire Strikes Back - 7.5/10.

Road to Perdition - 8/10.

Casino - 9/10.

Triage - 7.5/10.

Ondine - 8/10.
