Having recently discovering LP's live cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Wish", it got me thinking, what if on the 6th album did Industrial? With LP's further pushing of electronics in ATS and LT, I could honestly see this. Through in some of Mike's raps and they could be doing some real interesting stuff. Having an industrial sound would be great for them for 2 reasons, IMO. 1. They would be doing something new (at least for them). Always a good thing 2. The industrial sound would probably win back a lot of the HT and Meteora fans turned off by the past three releases.

    Thoughts?

I would definitely love that. I thought Mike's score with The Raid was already very industrial and NIN-infuenced, and it sounded great.

Now, throw in some distorded raspy vocals from Chester, some DJ-shadow hip hop beats, some trip-hop dark and eerie vibe, some Aphex-Twin weirdness, and I would have my dream-record from LP :)

I have yet to listen to the soundtrack, will need to. The only problem I might see is that Mike seems like he mainly listens to Hip-Hop, based on his Spotify playlist. Industrial might not be quite his thing. Otherwise it think it would be really cool. It would be great if they did a studio recording of Wish!

I don't want a full on industrial album. Linkin Park is a band that likes change their style, so an entire industrial would be bland.

Well, what if Linkin Park went polka? With LP's further pushing of electronics in ATS and LT, I could honestly see this. :kappa:

Polka-crunk-metalcore hip hop. I can feel it coming with the next album.

I do not see your point. Industrial is not Linkin Park's style, hence incorporating it (or using solely it) in an album would not be bland. It would be changing their style, something they like, as you said.

It can definitely be argued that an entire album full of nothing but "industrial" Linkin Park songs (or songs of any single genre or style, really) would be overly homogenous.

Yes, it can be argued. In the end, though, it depends on the music alone - even if it's all industrial, it can be innovating enough not to be considered bland.

I have a feeling that LOST IN THE ECHO would have sounded a lot like this.

I think we can make very good arguements for multiple genres and that Lp will do whatever they want to at a very high level. No one answer is right

But it would need to greatly vary between songs. Some can have the same style, but they can't have the same sound. Like Living Things, it used a lot of electronics, but not one song sounded alike.

I would not buy that album.

A properly made Industrial album is everything but bland and boring. It's the perfect synergia between electronics and heavy elements like guitars and/or drums. And it would be heavier than the typical LP music.
