So anyone who knows me knows that up until a few years ago I was pretty much in love with a girl who lives in Ireland. She knew but we remained friends and got quite close at one point. We fell out pretty acrimoniously two years ago and part of the reason was because she was engaged to some guy who was apparently her knight in shining armour and she pretty much didn't want me in her life anymore. She kept going on about how amazing this guy was and what scum I apparently was. In fact she cut out alot of people for him. Their relationship eventually ended when she discovered another girls underwear in their bed (apparently he'd been screwing alot of girls behind her back). He was pretty much the love of her life and she took it pretty bad.

Now the news has broken that the guy is dead. I feel bad for his family and friends but I feel a little guilty that I'm not really bothered about her. Such a shame that someone who I used to hold so high has put me in a position where I don't feel anything for them.

 

So you fell out acrimoniously, she went on about how much of a scum you are and two years later you're finding yourself not being bothered by recent matters in her life and you're feeling guilty for it? Dude, you've clearly moved on and you have no reason to be bothered.

 

You're probably right but I kinda pride myself on being compassionate and caring. I just didn't feel like it was possible for me to not give a shit.
