I'd like to see LP switch it up and do a double album along the lines of The Wall or The Fragile, each disk could be completely different or it could follow one big arc like A Thousand Suns. Whatever LP do next, I beg that they get it mixed properly (yes i'm moaning about that again) Living Things was a masterpiece in my opinion, along with every other album.. but the mixing makes it unlistenable at times.
No. IMO every album except HT should have been EP. Too many "meh" songs and fillers. You're easily impressed, aren't you? good for you...

I actually think the opposite would be cool. A shorter, 10 song album, with longer 4-6 minute songs. Those seem to be the albums I find to be the most enjoyable. The short track-list means there probably wouldn't be any songs that could be "filler," and the longer length of each song means each one could be fleshed out and interesting.
No need to be mean about it... Anyways, I think that the closest we will ever get to a "Double album" from Linkin Park was HT and Meteora...
Not a fan of double albums, generally (The Fragile being one of the exceptions). Those tend to be way too long, with a lot of filler songs, and I end up listening to them on very rare occasions because of the time I have to spend on it.
Eh, I don't think LP should put out a double album. It seems to be a trend with artists over the last few months, and I'm not entirely for it if it's not done well. Green Day's ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tre! wasn't great at all and consisted of nothing but filler. Coheed and Cambria did a great job with The Afterman, and we have yet to see how Stone Sour's House Of Gold and Bones Part 2 is going to sound. While I really love Linkin Park, I can't necessarily say they have enough substance and variety in their music to put out a double album, but I've been proven wrong before. I think it would be a good idea for LP to release a few 5 track EPs with different styles.
^ This, lol. But in all seriousness, I wouldn't be opposed to the idea. It's just that I think LP is more likely to do a shorter album with longer songs than the opposite.
I think the only way this would work coming from a band like Linkin Park would be if they did two distinctly different discs, like one being a "regular" album and the other being all instrumental music or something to that effect. A lot of double albums really aren't that good compared to other stuff the bands that have done them put out at other points...Stadium Arcadium, Mezmerize/Hypnotize, Uno!/Dos!/Tre!, Nostradamus, Night Castle...hell, even Use Your Illusion had a lot of filler on it compared to Appetite for Destruction. I think it truly takes a world-class band at their creative peak to be able to pull off a double album well (see: The Wall, Tommy, Quadrophenia, The Beatles). Linkin Park MIGHT have been able to pull this off during the Minutes to Midnight or A Thousand Suns eras, when they were writing material with no boundaries and pumping out dozens of songs during album sessions. Even then, it would have depended on how many of the "other tracks" they were writing were really album-worthy material.
I agree wholeheartedly with this. All my favourite releases as of late have either been short EPs or 12-track full-lengths.
I would like to see them break the 18 month and make one big long album. 15 tracks, no song shorter than 5 minutes. I hate that they fell back into radio structure.
Exactly. That is why I loved ATS! The tracklist said 15 songs but basically, the "filler" interludes are basically part of another song. If you go with that in mind, then the tracklist is basically this: 1. The Requiem/The Radiance/Burning in the Skies 2. Empty Spaces/When They Come for Me 3. Robot Boy 4. Jornada del Muerto/Waiting for the End 5. Blackout 6. Wretches and Kings 7. Wisdom, Justice and Love/Iridescent 8. Fallout/The Catalyst 9. The Messenger And even that's a bit redundant, seeing how ATS is supposed to be a single track in the first place. So yes, more songs like this. More uncoventional structured songs with interesting progression. That's their forte imo.
