Where you can discuss LGBT*+ issues, share coming out stories, complain about cishets, and stuff like that. EDIT: Zane already removed what I was going to remove. Anyway... I acted stupid. There is no excuse for what I did. I discriminated people for their sexual orientation and gender, something that the LGBT*+ community has to deal with daily, so not only does that make me an asshole, but a hypocritical one too. I apologize to everyone that was offended. It was a shitty thing for me to do. I hope you can accept my apology.
While I'm 100% in support of LGBT issues, I'm not sure if this thread is actually a good thing. See, I have a problem with the line "If you're not queer, GTFO" since it is discrimination against ones sexuality, precisely, heterosexuals. Heterosexuals are just as capable of displaying empathy and understanding the struggles and inequality that surrounds the LGBT community and their voices are just as important. Even those who disagree should have fair say, no matter if I find what they think repulsive or not. My suggestion is to therefore create a new thread in Serious Chat specifically about LGBT issues and to welcome the discussion to everyone. That is all.
Sorry. I put the "GTFO" thing there because I'm sick of shitty cishet cookiegrabbing "allies". This thread is for LGBT*+ LPAers, not cishets.
If you can't understand what you're asking for is discrimination against LPA members, then I have to say you're no better than those you seek to oppress. I'd be just as offended if there were a Heterosexual thread, or a (Insert Ethnicity) Thread. Or an Males only thread. Furthermore, Discrimination is against the rules of the LPA. Like I said before, creating a LGBT thread thread in Serious Chat is the correct course to go. This is coming from one who is part of that minority btw, and quite frankly I personally find your viewpoint on this quite offensive.
*sound of crickets fill empty head* Ummm huh? Thanks, I was wondering about that. Man, I kinda slow with the mornings. I'm an afternoon person, lol.
I was looking over the rules again and it appears that there actually is no rule against discrimination, be it positive discrimination or negative. Perhaps my opinion here is in the minority, but that's nothing new. It's also come to my attention that many people probably do not even understand what you say when you talk about Cishets. So for those that are confused Cishet - A combination of the terms ‘cisgender heter/het’. Then again, there are also those who do not understand what Cisgender means either. So Cisgender - Where an individual's gender identity matches the behavior or role considered appropriate for one's sex. http://shutthefuckupstraightpeople.tumblr.com/usefulterms http://gender.wikia.com/wiki/Cisgender If you're confused, don't worry. It happens.
Opening up the discussion the way Jesse's suggesting might spark a huge and pointless politics debate, which is hardly what a thread like this needs On the other hand, discrimination towards any group has to GTFO, especially here.
Unless I'm completely misunderstanding the opening post, you do know that if you're not part of the LGBT community, your opinion is not wanted here, correct? Or will the OP agree to disagree with the rules stated when the benefit is in the OPs favor? If this is all a misunderstanding, okay. I apologize.
I completely forgot that my post was merely opinion, that is a good point. In any case, I'm not looking to get in on the discussion or anything :x
Upon further reflection I come to the conclusion that I appear to fall in line mostly with Minuteforce's line of thinking. Though discrimination of any sort is extremely off-putting for me, there are certain things that make things a bit more muddy than they first appear to be. Schools and Colleges have clubs of this sort, so it's a bit confusing as to how to go about it in a forum format.
All I meant was that this thread is for LGBT*+ people, and if you are not LGBT*+, this thread is not for you. Imagine this thread is a gay bar, and straight people come up and go "Hey, this isn't fair! This world may be heteronormative, but having a small safe homonormative place in a heteronormative world isn't fair on us heterosexuals!"
Actually, the T just stands for Trans*. EDIT: thing not working when I use my phone... EDIT 2: I'm back on a computer now. EDIT 3: STILL NOT WORKING!!! EDIT 4: Turns out I forgot the http:// *derp* EDIT 5: [quote="Jesse, post: 1230310"]Upon further reflection I come to the conclusion that I appear to fall in line mostly with Minuteforce's line of thinking. But that school was full of heteronormative transphobic cissexist binarist cunts and I hope never to return.
I've actually have been to a gay bar before. Being a heterosexual, not once have I thought that. I know what you're saying, but technically I wasn't wrong. I was actually going to put "Trans," my brain at 6:33 this morning added "exual." You didn't really need a big picture to prove that I was wrong, did you?
