I supposed bland is a bit harsh and I do think all those tracks have some saving graces. I just think the tracks feel like less than they could be. They have potential, but I feel like they sacrifice that for the "rock" vibe that LP were obviously striving for on those tracks.
honestly i thought it sounded like what ive done/new divide. basically the same exact structure and everything. very epic and radio friendly. didn't think it was bad.
I group this into the "anthem" category of Linkin Park. Songs like New Divide, Burn It Down, What I've Done, and In My Remains fall into this category. Just the feel the songs have when Chester carries the entire song with a giant "wall of sound" during the chorus that gives it a big feel. That said, I fucking love their anthem songs. Chester nails them every time. Although I also love their "experimental" songs like Castle of Glass, Skin To Bone, and Roads Untraveled equally as much.
Why all the negative comments about this track? It's an awesome song, how could you hate the chorus? This song to me sounds like something straight out of Minutes to Midnight with a hint of their new sound
There's nothing that makes this track or IMR stand out to me. Every song on MTM has something signature that makes it pop out whereas IBG and IMR, to me, sound like very plain rock songs aside from their electronic intros, which are almost instantly drowned out by the guitar.
Which is good for a change. Guitars overcoming the electronic sound is just what made that track better
IMO, for the moment, it's one of the weakest of the album. It's not bad but the song is very generic, there's nothing special in it. The chorus is catchy but annoying and it's repeated too much. In the first listen, I found it quite similar to In My Remains, but I prefer this one.
Guitars overpowering the electronics is good imo only if the guitars are better than the electronics, which in the case of IMR and IBG, they're not. The songs sound promising and then they get drowned out by uninspiring chords. At least do a riff. Solo would be even better. Because they're just uninspiring chords, IMR and IBG sound like scrapped DBS songs, and I'm not the only one to notice this comparison. They're not bad songs by any means, but they really don't fit with Linkin Park for me. And it really has nothing to do with guitars vs. electronics anyway. The electronics are in the forefront of the verses of IMR, and even though I like the instrumental a helluva lot better than just the guitars, the song itself is just weak. The verses aren't well-written at all, and the idea behind the song seems very forced to me.
The song is growing on me. But, it would need something more. A more agressive last chorus. Or a more calm intro. I don't know. A progression. And the chorus melody is a little meh.
I'll be Gone similarly sounding to Foo Fighter track - The Pretender? Anybody else notice this? For those of you who haven't heard the latter.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBjQ9tuuTJQ
You guys are really ruining it for people who haven't heard it yet. I'll Be Gone is the track I'm looking forward to the most.
