I don't have any guilty pleasures because I don't find guilt in any music I listen to whatsoever. Buuut if I had to choose one artist I listen to that I'd consider a "guilty pleasure" for the sake of this thread, I'd say Selena Gomez & the Scene.
This. So much. There is no shame in liking music. If you're that worried about what people will think when you say you like so-and-so, then you need more self confidence.
awwwwwww beat me to it. Used to hate her until I heard Cannibal. EDIT: I consider it guilty music when the musicians are assholes or the lyrics are trashy, but it's just too damn fun to listen to anyway.
I'm with Will on the "not feeling guilty" thing, but these are pretty uncharacteristic of me. Currently: The Wanted - Glad You Came Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe Kristina Maria feat. Laza Morgan - Co-Pilot Dru - She Can Ride Gym Class Heroes feat. Neon Hitch - Ass Back Home David Guetta feat. Sia - Titanium Outasight - Tonight Is The Night Older: Justin Bieber - Somebody To Love Cobra Starship - You Make Me Feel So Backstreet Boys - Incomplete Backstreet Boys - Helpless When She Smiles Britney Spears - Criminal Christina Aguilera - Hurt I blame my girlfriend for all the current stuff.
The Used - s/t, In Love In Death Atreyu - Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses Justin Timberlake - Justified Asap Rocky (Used to be like 'I only listen to his mixtape for the beats' but since his new single I've realised that probably isn't true) Eminem - Marshall Mathers LP Hawthorne Heights - Ohio Is For Lovers I also like tons of old-ish (when they just started making videos era) Fall Out Boy songs even though I used to trash them when I was 11. Actually I like most pop punk/emo singles from 2003/4/5/6 now that I think about it. And why in every 'guilty pleasures' thread do people have to be like "why would i feel guilty etc. etc. etc."? It's just a phrase and I doubt anybody really thinks "shit, I shouldn't be listening to this, I feel so guilty".
And Jordan: You need to speak with more people. There are plenty of people in the world that are ashamed/embarrassed that they like certain songs. It's why you get so many old Backstreet Boys fans that say they are shite or *NSYNC or the like. Chances are they still like those songs, but it's no longer "cool" to do so. There are waaaay too many people who think this way. So yeah, no.
Spanish music, specifically modern "Bachata" is my guilty pleasure. Also; No Doubt & Paramore. I'm not into chick bands for some reason.
I just think it goes without saying - I mean why would you post your "guilty pleasures" if you felt THAT guilty about them.
Yeah, there is a lot of stuff from that era that I listen to occasionally out of nostalgia. The Used, Funeral for a Friend, Alkaline Trio, Finch, etc. Just a song or two. I also jammed on some old From Autumn to Ashes a few nights ago, which is strange because I wasn't really into that band when they were at their peak. I must have needed to hear something from 2003, I guess.
I, as well wouldn't consider it as a "guilty" pleasure but I own Ashlee Simpson's first two albums. And I don't regret it.
I think Fall Out Boy were a highly underrated pop group. Pete Wentz was a total douchebag, but as a band those guys were proficient as hell. I like a lot of Rihanna, which I've later found out is kind of weird for a dude. I have no idea why that's supposed to be.
But I'm in the "there's no reason to feel guilty about liking something" camp. Closest I've got to guilt is having a few Korn, Puddle of Mudd, Limp Bizkit, and Godsmack tunes in my library. Although, with as much as my Music Professor ranted against him this past semester I guess there should be some guilt for John Williams. Thnks Fr Th Mmrs is my highest played song on iTunes that never went on any sort of repeat or drastic replays.
