I thought I'd start one since there isn't any discussions about it. And yes, it's probably going to be much slower than other forums since it's not as popular. So what are your favourite classical composers/pieces? I'm really loving Mussorgsky at the moment.
My all-time favorite piece is Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. My dad would play it to me on classical guitar as a kid before bed, and now I listen to it whenever I can't sleep
I couldn't tell you who I like. I just turn Colorado public radio whenever I feel like I have too much noise going on. It's weird because of all the music I listen to at deafening levels classical is the coolest cause its so. . . Bassy I guess. It's just a much more physical euphoria. Like I said couldn't really name any composers but I do love the "genre"
Pictures at an Exhibition is siiiiickkk. Probably rather listen to Gnomus than any of the Promenades though. Faure, Ravel and Debussy are also enjoyable. I find it kind of hard to get into pre-romantic period shit though.
Are we talking about orchestral pieces in general or the specific era? On a slightly related note:
Anything Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, 20th century, orchestral or solo or whatever. and that song is amazing! Me too. I don't really enjoy listening to anything classical era or earlier, except beethoven and bach. But then again, Beethoven was the bridge to the romantic era.
I'd be surprised if anyone here hadn't heard these guys
