Mike Shinoda recently took part in an interview with Co.Create where he discussed a number of topics including his recent work on The Raid: Redemption score, how that influences the next Linkin Park album and also, reveals the first details on what Linkin Park fans can expect from the artwork for the untitled fifth studio album that is set for release sometime this Summer. Mike goes on to say the artwork is something he's never seen done before and will involve a tech element that will blow fans away. Read the excerpt and check out the full interview below: "I’m really excited for people to see what the online component of the release of this next record is going to be. It’s not fully formulated yet, but it’s going to be great. I think the art is just going to blow them away, because there is a tech aspect to the actual art of the album that is very cutting edge and to me it’s mind blowing. This is stuff that without giving it away at this point, I know I have not ever seen this done anywhere and maybe it’s too subtle for most people to get. The average person is not going to be able to look at it and go, I understand that that’s completely new, like not just the image but the way they made the image is totally new. So there’s going to be that. In addition to that, we hope that the roll out of the record has something that can excite the fan base in the way active." But he will say this: "It’s more than making a viral video. I mean, anyone can make a viral video." Mike Shinoda Full Interview with Co.Create After the huge viral and promotional campaign of A Thousand Suns, it was uncertain if the next Linkin Park album would contain such an interactive build to its release, but judging by these comments from Mike, fans have a lot to get excited about in the coming months. This reminds me of some things the band members said before the release of ATS, that it was going to be this new combination of different media or something. I'll need to find actual quotes but I vaguely remember something like that. Anyway, this sounds exciting, and I can't wait to see what he could mean. Thanks, Joe!
I was expecting more Josh Vanover. ATS arts have already blew my mind, so fvck yeah, it better be MIND-BLASTING!
Coming from someone who has appreciated and loved all of the art that the guys put into the albums, I am fully excited for this and can't wait to see it!
This gets me so excited for the new album. At first I was worried that it would be a ATS part 2, but as we get more news, it seems to be a really awesome record! Awesome, cutting edge artwork? Yes please!
Ohhh...well now.....this excites me even more dammit! Cant wait!!! The art has a huge pull on me as well.
This is some of the most exciting news I've heard in months. Almost more exciting than the single news. I can't wait to see how this goes. As for the teaser/games, seems like we've got something big coming for us LPA. we've got work to do
