We're not mindless sheep who simply love absolutely everything that comes from the band. We all hold actual individual opinions here. Just because we exercise critical thinking doesn't mean that you or anyone else can dismiss us as not being fans. <.<

Meteors is bad, so that's what I voted for. I listed to it from front to back the other day and it just doesn't compare to their other 3 records, and it probably wont compare to their 4th, either.

Also, Pink Floyd and Linkin Park aren't even on the same planet. Though I think Pink Floyd are over rated (I just don't see the hype, sorry fanboys), they're both great in their own right, but can not be compared.

I understand that not everybody is going like everything the band releases, its the amount of bashing that's really baffles me. Blackee just trashed their lyrics in a rather general manner, people now hate the albums that got them into the band, and just bashing an album and other peoples taste in music. None of these scream fandom to me

I wouldn't consider what he said bashing. He, like a lot of other people, just believes that lyrics have always been Linkin Park's weak point.

Lyrics in Meteora are quite solid if you ask me.

Sometimes I need to remember just to breathe
Sometimes I need you to stay away from me
    Sometimes I'm in disbelief I didn't know
Somehow I need you to go

That's some lyrical genius right there.

Come on guys, I love Meteora, but the lyrics are embarassing, even more when you hear a guy in his thirties sing them.

I'm assuming that the people bashing Meteora did NOT get into LP through that album and were probably really disappointed at Meteora lyrically sucking a bag of dicks. On other forums, I see ATS get bashed alllll the way. Admittedly, I DO NOT see those people ask "Really? How can you like this shit?". All in all, if you're on an LP forum all the time, you're probably a fan

I think we fail to realize that the people that are generally defending Meteora are still under 18.

I don't think we do. I'm 13 and I was being laughed at from some members because I like Meteora. Also, I know someone said they liked Somewhere I Belong when they were 13. So... I don't think we fail to realize that.

What I mean is basically to like Meteora you still need to be a teen. At first, we ALL loved Meteora, but as we grew older and wiser we all realized it is a big pile of crap.

    Oh. Okay.
Or you need to be an "old LP" fan that is headbanging all day and doesn't want to spread his creative sights on anything else.

I compare it to being grown and watching shows you loved as a kid and thinking "WOW! This shit was horrible! And I used to think this was the best shit ever!"

I never liked Meteora, but I do feel that way about a few HT songs

The main problem with Meteora's lyrics for me isn't exactly the lack of quality but the lack of sincerity. Every Linkin Park album has at least a few songs with mediocre lyrics, but Meteora's lyrics could have been written by robots. I don't hear Mike or Chester as people in any of those songs. Given Up has bad lyrics, but at least it's about something real. Lying From You? Figure.09? Numb? I couldn't even tell you what those songs are about. Just vague, bad-relationship bullshit. And I mean "relationship" in the most general definition of the word, because I don't know if they're mad at old girlfriends, their parents, or people who were mean to them in high school.

Actually I can't agree with you more on this one. Only, Given Up doesn't even need better lyrics.

I'm almost f*cking 21 and I still like this record. I don't care about the lyrics being childish. The music behind is good to me. Some posts are pretty cliché on this thread, seriously. By cliché I mean the famous" Meteora is for the teens + depressed + people feeling bad in their own skin" stereotype. Like everybody was the same, grew the same way, and listened to the same kind of music at the same moment.

Teen -> angsty metal or gangsta rap
Cool pretentious adult -> cool indie-electro - rock music.

This is....Oh well, I don't care. Don't even want to talk about this anymore.

Nine years ago I'd have said it's one of the greatest albums ever made.

Today I can honestly say that I really don't like the album as a whole. There's some good stuff that stood time and maturation, but there's some really bad stuff in there as well; Numb and Easier To Run never existed.
