So there is talk about the new Transformers movie due out in 2014. Bay is said to be the director and by the interview, this looks to be like some kind of "reboot." Thoughts?
One of the worst news of the day. That money hungry slut Bay just couldn't resist the offer, could he? Here comes another potentially disaster of a film.
Yeah, I'd be happy to see a reboot. :" I mean, with a different writer/director team, preferrably, just to give the franchise a bit of fresh air but, whatever.
If Nolan does I'd go see it just what the guy can do with it. That would really show how talented he may or may not be
God no, make it stop. The third one was terrible in its own right. Unless it's a total reboot and maybe have less of the stupid useless unsympathetic human protagonists, I don't think I will bite.
I'm all for more TF films, though I must say I'm really disappointed to see Bay return, I was really hoping the series would get a fresh start and tap into the potential of how good this franchise CAN be. I'm just sick of haters dissing these movies, when some of the original stories & characters rival Star Wars in terms of grand scope epic sci-fi. But hey thats the fanboy in me speaking.
What pisses me off the most about this is that even if Bay comes in and makes an absolutely fantastic movie, the "Damn you Michael Bay" people are going to sit back and still say how much of a piece of shit it is. Even though it is off topic, and since you brought it up, the same can be said about the first trilogy only fans of Star Wars. If a new movie or trilogy is announced and it is fanfuckingtastic, there will be so much prejudged hate and preconsumed notions towards the film that "Fanboys" of Star Wars will still say it sucks. Even if it is the best film of the saga.
First and foremost let's get it out of the way. Yes, the post production team that worked on the trilogy is fucking amazing and deserves all the goodwill subjected. That aside, here is my experience with the trilogy: - Transformers: The first film was amazing. It was a great standalone film as well as an entry into the franchise. 8/10 - Transformers, ROTF: Ruined, the credibility of the first film. Stupid jokes. Stupid cliches. An overall poor film. 5/10 - Transformers, DOTM: Whether it was intentional or not, it seems Bay & his team attempted to offer a story in which concentrated on the perspective of the Transformers themselves. Good effort, but uneven. 6.5/10 The reasoning behind the hate aimed towards Michael Bay is more than meets the eye. I attend a private college film school in which all of the instructors are industry professionals. One of my instructors are close friends with people of whom have worked for Bay on Transformers 1 and 2. Long story short, Bay nearly caused the death of two crew members whilst filming a chase scene to which his first reaction was, "Is IT okay?!". To elaborate, he was referring to the camera and rig, and no it was not okay. Fortunately, the two crew members were. There are other stories, but I don't care to reveal anything else; he's an asshole and that is that. Despite his attitude as a person, his technique is impeccable. Bay knows how to film action, but he is not a good storyteller. His style is all flash and no substance. That being said, it is a little unfair that he receives pretty much ALL the flack that has been given against the Transformers trilogy. To explain, these films are the product to which the screenwriters, and editors play a large role in as well. Then again, with what I have heard about Bay's work ethic and demeanor towards his staff, the trilogy may very well be truly his vision in terms of how the film flows. After all, that IS what a director does; he oversees the entirety of the project.
What makes you think people think TF 4 will be great with Bay at the helm? His track record in the franchise hasn't exactly been "fantastic".
