Do we have to create the melody from the original or can it be from scratch?

You must use the original vocals, BUT you can alter the melody/key through autotune like Keaton did in his remix. If you're referring to the background music, do any melody you want as long as it doesn't sound like shit :p.

I think that's impossible with you. I don't know if I should inflate your ego, but I recently called your Given Up remix one of the best remixes of Linkin Park *ever* done :p.

    Amazing as always Keaton, :)

This will be hard to beat IMO.

...Wow, that's very kind of you to say sir, that's a pretty major statement to make! I've heard a lot of LP remixes and I'm sure there are a lot that could leave me in the dust. I'm happy enough to just join in the community for the most part and if I get an occasional win or special mention or some good feedback here or there, then that's "dope" (as Brad would say).

Besides, I wouldn't worry about inflated egos, because this month everyone already has an uphill battle on their hands trying to beat Keaton's rather formidable piece of audio weaponry :p

I will definitively try to participate in this one. I either go with completely new one or re-tweak the old remix - http://youtu.be/yvXBMEUtUPY

Well all I know is if you did one hell of a job with Given Up. I'm hoping this month is just as good.

Niiiice. Even if you do a completely new one, just seeing the raw talent dripping from this thread gives me hope that this month is going to blow minds. Could be the best month we've had yet.

Yes, so far the couple of songs, or certainly Keaton's as the other is not confirmed, are pretty amazing.
I won't go too far from my usual genre of my original songs for this remix. Is a genre that is very experimental and anyway tends to change a lot from one to the next, however I hope it drops well on this one.
Is the first time I feel inspired to partecipate :p My average is taking 3-4 days for a song, arriving to 3 weeks for long and very melodical orchestration ones. This one is gonna take me more than 4 days indeed.

    OMG!!
There I was celebrating, and didn't even notice this thread, funily enough though I was only just listening to BITS the other day and doing some pre planning on style and structure.

Which kinda brings a question to mind, we don't have to use the entire vocal do we ?

Negative. Mike's LOATR remix only uses snippets, and it kicks ass. :p

Decided not to do this one. Too busy lately, just bad timing. Maybe another one.

For those looking to download my mix from the November contest, it'll be available on the 20th along with 6 other mashups :)

It was hard, but I managed to make one in about a week. I'm sure this won't come close to beating Keaton's, but hell, I tried. Lol

Adding re-recorded vocals from "A Place for My Head" in the solo?
    Nice touch :3
