Linkin Park Confirmed To Play Rock Am Ring 2012

I bet rock am ring is one of a few promo shows in summer for the new album .after that they are touring as a regular world tour maybe in late fall or winter 2012.... My guess

I wouldn't be too surprised if an album comes up around middle-year. If it wouldn't and they would start touring the album wouldn't see the light before 2013 and somehow I believe they got enough inspiration and material from ATS to bring out something before.
Still waiting the most for Mike's film score tho

 

I'm gonna play the role of the pessimist here and say I highly doubt any new material will debut by then, and that this will just be a mini festival tour to take a break away from the studio and the setlist will be the standard singles and casual listener tunes. I think the best sort of thrill we can expect is for them to cover Rolling in the Deep again.

I hope I'm wrong. I just hope they start mixing up their setlists. I know having rotating setlists is cool and somewhat of a privilege considering most bands don't do that, but it annoys me that the band say they're not worried about a potential backlash when it comes to experimenting with their music and yet they just fill their sets with all their singles to appeal to the casual listener. Don't get me wrong, they're by a fair margin one of the very best live bands in existance today, but I'd love to see some surprises thrown into the mix to pay homage to the fans who have listened to, supported and bought their music over the past decade.

 

yeah I saw this posted on LPL. I didnt quite beleive it myself that LP would put out a new album next year before the summer. Its still too soon. Even thought their knee deep in the writting process, I cant see them finishing it before May. I'm sure they could fininish writting/recording by then, but they still need to mix/master the record and then put it out. September will be the earliest, if that.

 

I agree with this... I have a feeling it will be a short summer tour like they did in 2006 and 2009. MTM and ATS both came out a year after they did those tours respectively.

 

Arr. I'd be fucking gobsmacked if they put an album out around the middle of next year. This will be an escape from the studio type tour. I don't think a new song is out of the question though, they should have several by that point.

 

why is everyone so pessimistic about the new album coming out mid next year? have some faith in the guys, eh

 

Just the first of many announcements??? Hmmmm.. If they come out with a new album by the middle of the year i would be pleasantly surprised. What do you think the future announcements may be?

Because we've been through this before. It's never out this early. I still say Winter 2012 at the earliest, which would be just a bit over 2 years since ATS, which is by no means a long wait between albums. But Linkin Park is not going to put a full studio album out in less than 2 years after their last. It just isn't going to happen.
