Big surprise from me here... The Halo novels. I like some a lot better than others though. My favorite is "The Fall Of Reach" By Eric Nyland.

Joyce kinda does vary between being nigh-on incomprehensible and being one of the best writers in the English language ever, if not the best, based on what I've read by him. That said there are a lot of writers from that period whom you can say pretty much the same about. I only just started reading Vonnegut haha

Yeah, Joyce probably is the best writer in English. And from all I've heard and read about Ulysses, it's got to be one of the best novels ever written in all languages, I just guess my attention span is too short right now to fully appreciate. Maybe in some 10-20 years
