I like it. Its a little bit bland but I like their sound. I could see why someone would hate this CD though. Nothing really stands out besides This is It.

    na-na-na-necro, because deal with it

Like half of the songs from the self-titled blow. Hard. We're looking at a Staind 3 Remember Who We Were type album, it looks like. A shame people hear "heavier" and immediately associate it with quality, I don't think I've seen anyone else with an opinion that hasn't been glowing praise.

I couldn't even get myself listen to their last album. I thought Chapter V was actually pretty good. Their older stuff also had its moments.

Like the last album was way different from Dysfunction, Break the Cycle and even 14 Shades of Gray, but other than the lead single, I can't say I didn't enjoy a single song. Next to none of it was heavy, but they were good songs. When they talked about how they grew their balls back for this new album, I was skeptical, since "back to our roots" albums almost always end in disaster for these kinds of nu-rock 95-03 hitmakers. The Bottom and Eyes Wide Open weren't classics by any stretch of the imagination, but they were good. These latest songs are just lamer versions of older, better Staind songs.

Most forums I'm on actually encourage bumping an incredibly old thread on the same subject instead of restarting it. A cohesion thing I guess. I don't know how LPA normally does it.

That said I was kind of surprised there hadn't been any actual Staind discussion since 08.

Normally, we prefer you start a new thread rather than bringing up an old one, but, since that's already been done we've got a discussion taking place, it would be rather pointless to close this one and start a new one.

Anyway yeah, I'm not entirely sure why Staind thinks going backwards are going to make them relevant again after they watched Korn failed with the same idea.

The new album is ok. On par with Break The Cycle, I think they overplayed the "Oh yeah here's the heavy shit right here!" attitude while they were making it and I really don't think it'll be more successful than Illusion of Progress, but better than I thought it would be for sure.

I'm about three songs into it right now. So far it's better than their last album, and better than what I was expecting it to be
