I agree with Across the Line being on the album, just not the other two songs. They don't seem to really fit in with the rest of the album as much.
I've grown to appreciate Minutes to Midnight a lot. It's easily my 2nd favourite album behind A Thousand Suns. No More Sorrow, In Pieces, and the masterpiece that is The Little Things Give You Away are still my all-time favourites. If most of the B-sides replaced some of the less inspired tracks on the album, Minutes would have been received a lot better I think.
I appreciate Valentines day alot more now. If MtM were released in 2011 i think it would of been the 2nd single from the album, maybe even the first.
Did everyone forget about What We Don't Know being a b-side and an awesome song? MTM is my fav LP album and always will be. I still to this day, play every song from the album. And it takes me back to a good time in my life 2006-2007.
I meant that like none of the songs that were actually on M2M fit with themselves, haha. I have a hard time understanding how you could think M2M is better than ATS. But whatever, opinions
My reasoning for why it ALMOST is, is because I can listen and enjoy all of the tracks on it. On A Thousand Suns, I pretty much never listen to Waiting For The End and The Messenger.
On M2M I can't listen to Given Up or No More Sorrow. And how can you not like Waiting For the End? I'm not saying it's the greatest song ever written, but come on, haha.
I can. I have no idea, it's not bad but it's not a song I'll just listen to when I don't have to. LOL
ATS is really good. I think it's a BETTER album, musically. But MTM is still my fav LP album. A lot of reasons it is, more than just the music on the album. I took a vacation with my Grandfather to LA before he passed away the year after... And we went to the Houdini House, where a lot of writing was done for MTM because I wanted to go there since LP was making MTM at the time. It was really cool.. And 2006-2007 were just really good times in my life. I went to my first prom, I saw LP for the first time live, etc. I had a really good life then. I grew up in 2005-2007 to become more mature... My Grandfather was also still alive...he passed right at the end of the MTM touring cycle...he was like a father to me since I don't talk to my real father... I'm not here to say to anyone 'MTM is better than ATS' because everyone has their own opinions. MTM is just better for me...
I rate it an 8/10. A truly amazing piece of work. I think The Little Things Give You Away, No Roads Left, In Pieces and Shadow of the Day are some of Linkin Park's best songs.
I like all of the songs on Minutes to Midnight but it's not really my favorite album by Linkin Park. However I like some more then others. Wake is a nice instrumental introduction song I guess. Given Up I thought was pretty good, I like how it's aggressive. Leave Out All the Rest is a nice soft song, but the chorus can get a little annoying after listening to it so many times. Bleed It Out is a good song in my opinion because it has their rock/rap sound they started with which I like. Shadow of the Day is catchy to me for some reason, I like the strings in it and how the song progresses from calm to tense. What I've Done is good for a generic alternative rock song, my favorite part of it is the piano and the chorus. Hands Held High - I like the rapping in it, the rapping flows pretty well. I also like how the song ends in a short verse, theres a lot going on at the end which I think is pretty cool. No More Sorrow - The intro is awesome, the song is convicting and like Given Up it is aggressive which of course I like. Valentines Day - Well the song I don't think is as great as the others because its too slow for me, I like the end because it is similar to Hands Held High ending, a lot is going on. In Between is all right I like how Mike sings in it, I like Mike's singing on the songs he does sing in. (I'd much rather hear him rap though ) In Pieces is an okay song, I don't like it as much as the others because Chester's shouting is a little weird in the song, it doesn't sound great at all live, but I like the singing in the verses. Little Things Give You Away - It's a good song but, its a little slow for me at the beginning, I like the song once it progresses at a certain point. The Album as a whole is pretty good, it doesn't exactly flow well as an album, the songs don't sounds as connected as they do in A Thousand Suns but I guess none of their previous albums have either. If you include QWERTY Blackbirds No Roads Left and Across the Line QWERTY - I like how it has the rock/rap collaboration in it but I don't like the screaming as much as I like the singing, its a good song in the sense it was written in such a short time. Blackbirds is good, I like the short rapping verse (bridge) towards the end but the rap verse in the beginning isn't that great, it doesn't really fit in. No Roads Left - I like Mike's singing in the song but the ringing guitar gets annoying after listening to the one riff a few times, I do however like the strings as well. Across the Line I like the verses less then I like the chorus, and the bridge is decent as well. Songs between the release of Minutes to Midnight and A Thousand Suns: New Divide - It's a good generic rock song, however I do like the electronic sounds that are played throughout the song. The turntable bridge is cool too. Not Alone - Nice soft song, not my type of music though, It's decent. It's not painful to listen to at least. We Made It (Busta Rhymes ft. Linkin Park) - I like Mike's verse in it and the chorus, I like Busta's parts in it, its just a good song in my opinion.
I dislike it more than when it first came out. It just has never seemed like a "Linkin Park" record to me and thus it never really clicked. The songs are a branching out for LP, sure, but in the same vein they are bland and boring when compared with the other music coming out around the same time. Some of the songs are decent, but songs like SOTD, WID, Valentine's Day, even TLTGYA got old fast. And even worse, the songs are their weakest live for the most part. Thus, I am really happy with ATS and the new direction. I honestly lost almost all interest in the band from around mid-2007 to just before the ATS release.
Minutes To Midnight is tied with Hybrid Theory, which makes them the 3rd/4th best LP albums respectively.
