Well, so much for 2012, I guess. 2013 release, then. :)

I am excited for the unexpected. Who knows if i will like it as much as ATS, but i think i'm easy to please with songs that involve Mike and Chester singing together because that has always been my weak spot when it comes to LP. So yeah...:awesome:

An album more polarizing than MtM and ATS? I have serious doubts LP.;)

Well, it sounds like they're going in a completely different direction musically after "A Thousand Suns". I imagine that, to get away from that, they'd have to produce a more minimalistic-sounding album. :"

Well, I could say it's a trend now to be all personal and introspective in music and it tends to be whiny, but it seems we've had only so much personal stuff from them. This is an area they haven't really explored. To each his own, but for me I like music that makes me think (not necessarily about myself :p).

i'm very excited for the new album and I'm a fan of a thousand suns, but please LP write this record in the vein that any song can be incorporated to the listeners definition. by this I mean I don't want to hear songs like hands held high, whilst it's a great song, I don't want to hear a band tell me what they're feeling on a certain topic. whereas The Little Things Give You Away gets their point across but you could interpret the song any way you want. maybe i'm in the minority, but to me, half of the fun of a song is connecting to it on my own level, when a band tells me 'HOW' to connect to it, it just doesn't affect me as deeply. just my two cents.

You don't have to agree with a song... People have to remember that they're musicians and music is a form of expression. They're not writing songs so YOU (by that I mean all of us) can connect to it... they're writing it so they can :p

Very interesting. Kerrang seems to be one of the only mainstream media publications that truly "gets" A Thousand Suns. You can tell by the words they use when they describe the album, and when they describe nu-metal.

They called nu-metal "mainstream and commercial" which is so TRUE. Yet so few people are willing to admit that. At the turn of the century, nu-metal was probably the most mainstream and popular sub-genre out there. A Thousand Suns was steering AWAY from commercial success and appeal, not towards. Linkin Park did the opposite of selling out by deciding to be more than a one-trick pony. Way too many people act like when they were making nu-metal they were some underground band with a cult following. Far from it.

When a band does something someone doesn't like they just like to claim they are selling out. It sounds cool.

This is fucking awesome, although, I'm not going to expect the final version of the 5th album to sound like the way Chester is describing it right now. I don't want an ATS part 2 with a bunch of sounds and weird electronic stuff. I'd LOVE to have a quiter, more stripped down feel again, like MTM but without the whole poppy aspect. This is amazing.

"You know what? This was never my band anyway; this has always been Mike's band."

True, but I don't quite like how he put it like this.
I love Linkin Park as a whole.
