I'm a fountain of words, many of them needless, all of them cool and refreshing.

Story. Of. My Life. Minus the Meteora part.
If for some reason this album appears in my playlist (which is the only place I'll listen to it), I'll basically skip over everything except BIO, Valentines Day, In Between, and TLTGYA. And those four songs don't inspire me enough to listen to them on their own, either. Well, TLTGYA will. Funny that their "hard" songs like Given Up and No More Sorrow are among the worst they've ever written.

I felt like I only defended it because the reasons vocal haters were putting it down were completely unjustified. It's not bad because it's soft, it's bad because its bad. Heck, if they didn't make such a big drama scene and trying to irrationally spin the wheel of blame (pointing to Rubin, "selling out," or saying they should be the same forever), I might have agreed with them.

When ATS came out and showed what potential LP truly had, I lost complete interest in MTM. ATS is exactly what I wanted MTM to be when I first heard LP saying they were changing their sound. Something fresh and unique to them, not a collection of songs that sounded like they were already written by other bands.

I listened to this album on the bus to and from school today.
I actually never knew how good it actually was. I must say, it comes very close to being my favorite Linkin Park album alongside A Thousand Suns.

Why are you apologizing? I am just trying to make sure I don't jump back in after a long period of time and we end up taking this thread off topic. :p

You know what I think is weird? Just when MTM came out, I recall that most people loved Given Up & No More Sorrow for their sheer heavyness. But now things have reversed. As the years have gone on, opinions have changed. Valentines day was despised by alot, now it is one of many peoples favorites. And GU & NMS (& WID) have gone to the bottom of the list.

Regardless, GU & NMS are still two of my favorites, but I think MTM's real achievement was In Pieces & TLTGYA. To this day I'm still impressed at the musicianship in those songs. And I must give a shout out the the instrumental "Wake" just a brilliant intro to the album :)

I still like it a lot, but now I can't help feeling they were trying too hard to sound different, and while some of their efforts were good there's some really poor attempts at that. It's probably my least favorite album from LP.

I think No More Sorrow is probably their second best song on MTM. But it's still miles behind The Little Things Give You Away.

MTM is my favorite LP album.......all the songs are so well thought out and the lyrics can be taken to different levels and perspectives.
One scenario: The Little Things Give You Away refers to someone's personal life where someone they love doesn't like them anymore and it can be viewed as an insult to the Bush administration(when they were in power).

I know this is opinionated, but the only songs I like on ATS are Iridescent, Wretches and.......thats it.
I think I'm in my own category, there are either: Hybrid Theory LP fans or ATS LP fans. No one else likes MTM as much as I do.....I'm caught up In Between.

The album is good but The Little Things Give You Away is just amazingly good and is by far the best song on the album IMO. :)

I think they made the wrong choice for the final tracklist. Blackbirds, ATL & NRL should have been on there, cut GU, WID & maybe In Between or LOATR.

As it is it's "pretty good" overall if inconsistant. Some good, some average, a couple of terrible tracks & what I still think is the best song they've written - TLTGYA.

The Little Things Give You Away is obviously the best track on the album. LP should have tried to not emulate the song, but base MTM on that sound. But that's my opinion.

ATS made me like M2M more. Is that true with anyone else?

Yeah, I agree. MTM could have been an ATS-esque record. TLTGYA had a sound you could really build around. It was kind of gritty and atmospheric.

Minutes to Midnight has some of their best songs (Little Things Give You Away, Leave Out All The Rest, Hands Held High) as well as some of their worst (Given Up, What I've Done).
Honestly, I have really mixed emotions about it.

I just checked my iTunes, and I only have six tracks from Minutes, and three of them are rejects ("Qwerty," "Blackbirds," "No Roads Left"). The others are "Bleed It Out," "In Pieces," and "The Little Things Give You Away." I deleted the rest.
