Rockstar/Team Bondi have done it again. This game is phenomenal. Great voice acting, great graphics, and most importantly...a strong story and solid gameplay. One of the best games I've played in years. Not finished with it yet (not even close) but this game is superb.
I pre-orderd Noire at Gamestop and got the Naked City Case (plus Badge Pursuit Challenge) and since I got it for the PS3 I got the Consul's Car Case. Are these cases already in the disc? I was wondering if anyone knew. I'm just making sure cause I think I have the redeem codes for those in the disc case and I don't know what to do.
Is it lots of action? The only games I really play now are Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and COD. I've played through most of GTA3 and VC, but I got GTAIV and got to like the second mission and was bored...
From the gameplay footage I saw on Toby Turner's gaming YouTube channel, I might just say fuck it, and pick up the game next week. Good thing I get a 10 percent discount where I work.
There is action in the game, but it's not like the games you listed above. It's a game where you have to go with your wits, not your guns/fist. You have to think outside the box when solving cases, strategies. It's not however a full out action game.
The action only happens if you upset someone to the point of a fight, or the suspect realizes they've been "caught" and tries to outrun you to avoid a murder charge. Otherwise its a very story driven game.
Half-way done with the game. At Homicide Cases right now. Overall I'm having a great time playing L.A. Noire.
I'm at the 3rd CD already. Part of me regrets playing it so fast, but then I realized it's not that it's a quick game...it's that it's THAT good that I haven't gotten away from it.
I rarely care about games but L.A. Noire looks anazing! I'm buying it after my exams as I can't afford any more distractions right now.
Just now finished L.A. Noire.....great gameplay, astounding graphics, and one of the best stories I've ever seen in a game.
I watched my bro play and it looks pretty fun. I still need to beat GTA IV, but I think i'll get Red Dead and this after.
What I like about Cole Phelps, is that much like John Marston in RDR he's a flawed protagonist. He has his demons, and even does some questionable things during the game (spoiler: cheating on his wife) but you get the feeling he wants to be a better person and that he is looking for redemption, just like John from RDR. Even though Team Bondi made the game (instead of Rockstar, as R* only published it), both games had very believable lead characters and I'd be interested to see if the Noire series continues with another game within a few years.
What I like about the game is the many sub-plots that are shown. In every case there's this big conspiracy sorta going in the background that involves in these cases and it's our job to know how they connect. I love how this game is truly using the movie genre Noire in their stories. The cases do feel a little repetitive, but the story of the case actually makes me want to go on further. Derek has already said what I feel about the character. I 100% agree with what he said.
Just got to the first Arson case. Wow this story just got really deep. Don't know whether to despise Cole or feel bad for him. Excellent writing.
Without giving much away, during the Arson cases, you will shake the city from it's rotten core; a lot of people are involve in it and in my opinion (next to the Homicide cases) is one of the most "on-edge" missions you will play. Also some interesting things will occur when you progress through the arson case story. Things are gonna unravel. On another side note, I'm checking out the games soundtrack; here's a playlist: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=4588E1DCF1B784FA&feature=iv&annotation_id=annotation_85174
Just finished this today. Derek, you won't be disappointed with the ending, but at the same time you will. That's the way I felt. Double edged sword, really. Now, I bought the strategy guide so I can go back through, 5* all the cases and 100% this game. I also read that there's a way to make the entire game black and white.
Cole is a very flawed person, the war has left him torn, and the things he saw/did during it changed him dramaticly. He feels guilt, and recognizes the actions he did. He is though looking for redemption, make something better out of himself. It's confusing though the things he does during this game (Derek mentioned it before marked as a spoiler). Wish they went into detail to why he did it so I could have gotten a better understanment of his action. I love the story of this game; it's so much like a movie. One a side not I got some exciting news. If your a fan of L.A. Noire I think this little teaser will excite you: http://techland.time.com/2011/05/24/l-a-noire-sequel-wouldnt-take-five-years-to-make/
