In the midst of listening to it right now. Fake or not, I'm enjoying it.

    Tracklist:

    1. Papercut
    2. Now I see
    3. Points of Authority
    4. Plaster
    5. Crawling
    6. Runaway
    7. The Untitled
    8. By Myself
    9. The Cure
    10. The Cure For Mr.Hahn's Itch
    11. A Place For My Head
    12. Forgotten

According to various Linkin Park fansites, this thing is legitimate?

I've never heard about this. It seems like it'd be really easy to just run them through some filters to make them sound of lesser quality. Or chop some things up to make the songs different.

I'm guessing Derek and other mods have caught wind of this already, and are in the process of receiving confirmation on it's legitimacy. Either way, it's a great listen so far, and by my assertion: it sounds real.

    Time will tell.

I just listened to it. I'm starting to wonder how easily people can be fooled. There's barely any differences, and the ones that are there are obviously faked. I wonder how much the person paid for this.

Edit: after reading all the comments on LPL and having only like 2 people question its legitimacy, either I can't hear very well on my laptop speakers (very possible), or people aren't thinking.

I deeply appreciate your skeptcism, but as another skeptic I am skeptical of your quick conclusion. Please elaborate further.

Also, I was waiting for Astat's response on LPL before making a judgment on its legitimacy myself. I don't have ears that are trained enough to pick out those things myself. But with all the other high profile LP fans in there that I'd usually pin on being able to spot a fake... not saying anything... it's either a REALLY good fake or it's legit like She Couldn't.

EDIT: and laptop speakers might not justify this.. there's certainly differences, but a lot of it is in the mixing.

    I would say it's legit.

Especially after hearing through everything from my laptop to my android via HQ headphones.

This isn't just some low quality chop shop.

All I could hear were some vocals that were mixed louder (which can pretty easily be done), some other vocals that were modified (maybe layered with other vocals or live versions), and some differences to some instrumentals, like the scratching for example.

Everything else sounds like it could be taken right from the demos or other stuff we've already heard before. I'll have to wait till I get off my laptop and get on my nice computer with headphones before I can more confidently assess this lol.

Am I the only one who didn't get excited at all after hearing this? I mean, it's the same thing with some barely noticeable variations.

From what I can tell, it's legit. The story is that the original guy on eBay found the CD at a music fair some years ago, and only recently put it up for auction. It sold for almost $900, and even the guy selling it was surprised at how much it was worth. Then the guy who bought it gave it to LPL to release, and obviously here we are now.

It would have to be a pretty elaborate fake, and I'm about 99% sure it isn't. You can hear the very slight differences, and by very slight, I mean very slight, BUT... they do appear real. Obviously people are going to be sceptical, but yeah, it's real in my book.

From a personal stand point, it's cool to have more Hybrid Theory "demo's", and it's a pretty cool thing to have, but it didn't really do anything for me, like a couple others have said. The versions of the songs are barely any different and half the excitement pertains to the name value of having an "Unmastered" Hybrid Theory. I can pick up on the slight nuances that make it different than the final product, but I'm sorry, it's not enough to make me blow my load like some people seem to be doing. Awesome release to have, but the content doesn't live up to the hype and name value of the CD itself.

I've downloaded it and only listened to two songs, that's how much I care.

It's cool that there are so many people who are excited about this though so I hope it's legit. Props to the buyer/LPLive for putting it up. :)

Definitely not worth $900, in my opinion. But that's just me.
