What "customer"? The track was released for charity. Meaning it was voluntary; from the goodness of his own heart. The entire effort (Music For Relief) is an added extra thank you to those who donate, not an advertised product. You can be unhappy with the song, but trying to justify the outspoken negativity as if they OWE you anything for charitable contributions is completely ignorant and downright rude.

edit: Aww. Ninja'd by Derek. That's what I get for taking my sweet time replying.

Lol. Linkin Park aren't a group of chefs at a restaurant. They can make things people hate if they so desire. They don't have to bend over for their fans. We have to bend over for them because they're going to make whatever they want.

If Linkin Park wanted to release a polka album they could. It's their music.

This is one of those times that the phrase "if you have nothing good to say(or intelligent) say nothing at all" applies the most. You're beginning to sound extremely dumb with every letter you write. If you don't like the track. That's cool. The track was never released for commercial gain which means you were not asked to buy it. Bashing on Mike and the band for releasing something for charity is pathetic and goes beyond fan feedback. You're just being a dick. This track and cause has nothing to do with if you're an LP fan or not. It's not about you. It's about Japan and the disaster relief effort. Stop projecting your dissatisfaction with their previous work onto this.

You are clearly misinformed on how quality bands operate.

"The Customer is always right" is an idea that needs to die in a fire. The problem today is that "customers" now feel so entitled that they demand the unreasonable service to their lazy asses.

I am reminded of "Notch" Persson, the creator of Minecraft. Anyone who know anything about programming realizes that Notch has basically done the impossible - creating a very fun video game, by himself, before the game even left Alpha - he's basically a programming God. This happened in a time where a huge corporate team with a multi-million budget can still end up with problems like Duke Nukem Forever. You know what his fans did after he announced an update for last Halloween? They DDoS'd him for being "lazy" and not getting updates done fast enough. Here, one of the few programmers in the entire universe who can stick through extremely complicated work in pursuit of what he loves, being called lazy.

Customer is right MY ASS. Customers have lost all sense of gratitude and respect, and no forgiveness for mistakes. Producers are not slaves. Linkin Park are artists, not factory workers that owes the fans anything.

And what exactly do the "fans" want? I dare you to try and define it to where all - or even half of - fans agree. It's impossible. You do not understand the nature of the arts, it doesn't fulfill a technical need like any product you buy in a grocery store: you cannot ever define what the fans want. And you cannot speak on my behalf.

Making songs "for the fans" is how those vapid, commercialised pop artists happened. Making songs "for the fans" means not taking any risks. Not taking any risks is not being original. There's no winning here, so the best Linkin Park can do is make music Linkin Park likes. If other people are on board, then good. If not, then not.
