Derek, it's pretty evident that Mike was annoyed/angry when making the post. The wording says it all.

    From Mike -

This is “Issho Ni,” the Linkin Park song we contributed to www.downloadtodonate.org. There were a lot of positive comments (thanks), and I also saw some of you were saying: 1.) you thought it should have been arranged in a different way, because you wanted more “action” earlier in the song, and 2.) you thought there should have been vocals.

First clue is how he quickly gets the thanks for positive out of the way, second clue is that he jumps right into defensive, which is longer than his thanks btw, third clue is his use of quotation marks on the word "action"

I have not seen a comment that said it needed more "action", so for him to quote that word specifically is a bit of lead on. Also, it's filled with the common connotation of mocking, and really, if you made a track for a good cause and people complained you'd be upset too. I'm not aruging with you at all and I agree with you on everything except where you say, and I'm paraphrasing here "If Mike was upset and that's a BIG if" it's not an if at all, I don't believe. Much less a BIG IF. It looks damn obvious to me.

Derek took the words out of my mouth.
At times like these, the last thing Mike is worried about is spending months on a track that people won't find as relevant at the date of release as it would be now.
He's done an amazing thing for an amazing cause and will hopefully raise a lot of money in the process.

What an awkward contest. Mike seemed pissed.

Geez. Most people here in the intarnets really don't know how to say the right things at the right time, and how to criticize discreetly. It's really hard to learn class, right?

This is a fundraising effort for the recent natural disaster in Japan. Learn to appreciate. Sometimes your God-given opinion aren't needed. Learn to consider the context and don't just open your mouth mindlessly.

I can't imagine putting down vocals to this track... It's so beautiful the way it is, it'd be hard for me to even imagine someone adding vocals.

I agree it is so nice...but I love vocals too..it would be nice that way also..at least I think either way...the way it is makes me think this tragedy is so sad and tragic that there are no words to describe it. I just love vocals though and I think if someone could sing well enough and with just the right words it could be pulled off.

I don't think Mike sounded or is pissed. This is the guy from a band who have been insulted and criticized from the moment they came onto the scene for 10 years and counting. I hardly doubt a few criticisms from a few faceless people on the internet is going to faze him. If not, he would have folded a long time ago.

The only thing pointless about the remix idea is the fact that IMO, the instrumental is solid and completely fantastic just the way it is. I foresee any changes such as words taking away the heart and soul of why i love it. It has become one of my favourite instrumentals of all time. The way i feel about it would be the same, charity or not. Mike did a fantastic job creating something in such a small amount of time that touched me. Then again, i wasn't surprised. A good idea is a good idea. The time spent on it doesn't matter if its a great idea.

I think he got pissed and put the post up, then calmed and put it down, then got pissed again and put it up...

So rare do we see LP members get pissed, and even they do, they act like they aren't.
I don't like the song to be honest, but I solemnly appreciate their work for Japan.

I really don't understand how Mike Shinoda can be as patient as he is at times. He's gotten visibly angry sometimes, yes, but if he were most people, he's be a LOT more angry. If he were me, Linkin Park's fourth studio album would be created entirely of cookies because I would have gotten fed up by then.

Damn, he deserves to be angry sometimes. I'd defend that too.

Ya it's only human to be angry for such nonsense complaining. I mean, I don't like the song but I didn't complain either.

I think Mike appreciates comments, positive or negative, as long as they explain why or why not about a song. I have to say though in this situation it's a little more personal. With Mike being half Japanesse I'd say it's hit him in a different way then any other natural disaster.

So for him to be upset (if he is) is understandable. Might even be venting a little anger over what has happened in Japan. Mike knows how to take criticism, him and LP have heard it for years, but I say Issho Ni is a lot more personal to him then any song he has done in a while.

Matter of fact just curious, is Issho Ni a Linkin Park song or a Mike Shinoda song? (regardless of what it says)

Well I believe Mike may have done the song himself. Either way he still credits it as an LP song.

When you deal with over 10 years worth of judgment by people who have absolutely no clue on what you go through to make your music, you probably learn how to deal with the criticism.

Still, some of the comments I've seen over this song are bullshit. I'm not a fan-boy who thinks the band cant do wrong by any means, but the band didn't have to include a track on DTD JAPAN. They could've said "hey here's a new album full of various artists and friends we have in the music industry, please donate to the cause and help out Japan". No instead they decide to give back to their dedicated fans and make a track for the compilation as a thank you, and they get called lazy for it.

I love running an LP fansite, and it's an honor doing this for the fans...but sometimes I see stuff from this fanbase that just makes me cringe.

There are all kinds of people, luckily most of us here are good people. ;)

PS: Random Question - Why do we use AN LP site instead of A LP site? I thought a e i o u determines that...
