The challenge: You can not listen to the same song more than twice for a two and a half week period. The purpose: To see if there is a chance you might try more new music and add more bands to your music library. You if you would like to participate please state that you would and if you have a music tracker like lastfm, or something similar please post it so people can keep up. This is just for fun. Are you interested and can you handle it?
I can definitely state I am interested. Seems like fun. Albeit I have 41 days worth of music in my Winamp library. How does lastfm work? I may sign up if I give this a shot.
I would do it If my Ipod would hold more then 8 GB of stuff. I drive a total of 4 hours a day monday to friday. Thats 20 hours a week. And every second of those hours are accompanied by music. So for a week yes I do it cos I change playlist/artists everyday. But two and a half is too much for me
Normally I'd totally be down for something like this, but I only get to listen to music a couple hours a day during the week lately, so I'd kind of be "cheating." Not hard to go that long without repeating a song when you have a music collection as big as mine and don't listen to music constantly.
I have over a terabyte of music. It wouldn't be that hard to complete this challenge, AND I'd have last.fm charts to prove it.
As of today, starting on my last.fm with the album The Listening by Lights, I will take this easy challenge.
To make it more fun I will add a point system, if you listen to any one song more than 3 times after the third time deduct one point. You start out with 100. That is all.
Unfortunately, it's a mixed bag. Most of my newly acquired music (say, from the last 2-3 years or so) are of the lossless variety. The rest are high quality mp3s, high quality being either 256kbps minimum or VBR (V0). There may be about a gigabyte (if that) that are 128kbps, but these are from the IRC/Napster/KaZaA days and have been on queue to be replaced anyways. I'm serious. I have a list.
oh, i forgot to add last.fm/user/exaltedphoton starting with Arcade Fire - The Suburbs (even though I've been doing it before that )
Don't know if anyone was doing this. I think Minus said that he was game, but sadly I have to put it to an end. It's true I haven't listened to any song more than 2 times (as far as I remember) since I listened to Arcade Fire - The Suburbs BUT pretty soon I will not have any internet and that conditioned together with my extremely limited Hard Drive space, it is only inevitable that I will run into the same track over again. (Previously, I use to download music, delete it, download something else, delete it, etc) so I guess I have to call it quits if not right now then pretty soon. Owell, fun while it lasted.
I've been doing well. Haven't listened to the same track more than once. Had I know we could listen to a song TWICE, well damn. For some reason I was thinking once.
Challenge accepted. I will listen to one single song over 250 times in the next 3 days, starting now.
Well to be fair Minus, I said in the first post that you could listen to any song twice... And I think the only song I listened to twice was Issho Ni because I was distracted.
