I saw this. This is fascinating. You knew this would happen soon whether it be a bacteria or some kind of vegetation. Though, I had to facepalm at all the comments I saw with religious freaks calling it a hoax .
It's scary to think what will happen when there's evidence (maybe this will be it) that is impossible to deny. A lot of people aren't going to know what to do with themselves, haha.
Since the guy willingly let others go over his findings before they were published, I don't disbelieve this. But we've still got to wait to here if this is truly legit. And then comes all of the religious bickering again.
Religious groups will either: A: Go along with the findings and alter their beliefs so things will fit nicely. B: Claim it's a hoax or some scientific conspiracy against the Church. C: Claim that, along with dinosaurs, this is the the work of Satan.
1. If this was even remotely true, then why the hell did it take so long to discover it? 2. Did the earth not have a giant meteor shoved up it's pie hole and spewing debris into space? 3. Aliens are not stupid. They wouldn't leave a trace on anything. 4. I bet you guys it's a genetically mutated scientist semen sample. --RS
I guess you're referencing catholics here? But yeah, I didn't even read the paragraph, I'd like to see it proved true or whatever you gotta do in science to be true, interesting find.
Whether this is proven or disproven, alien life will be confirmed sometime in the near future, one way or another. It'd just be cool if it happened sooner than later.

The Journal of Cosmology isn't "scientific"
There's already proof, technically. The proof being this planet. We aren't a special case and if it's happened here it's bound to have happened somewhere else as well. It's just a question of where, and when/if we find it. A lot of religions seem to incorporate the idea that humans are an exceptional case, and that God played a special part in us developing as much as we have, so if there were ever a chance of something on the same level being found elsewhere it probably wouldn't just be Catholics who'd be in denial. I mean, I'm sure if we ever find physical proof there'll be plenty of people who feel uneasy about it in a similar kind of way, who aren't even religious in the first place. That and there's what this would be if it were true, ie simple microorganisms that are similar to ones from here but weren't from here themselves, and not fully formed beings appearing just like that, but I think that would mostly be a problem for creationists.
It'd be cool if this is actually true. Not that I think it's false, but we don't know for sure. It sounds very intriguing.
Wasn't this already debunked? Though I do believe there are aliens and that there will be evidence (other than the vast amount of planets and galaxies and maybe universes that are already supporting this theory), this just isn't it. Or maybe it's real and I've missed something?
