Hey. Does anyone know how many records Linkin Park has sold? Record means everything. (albums, singles, extended plays..) I read through many post on many websides but they're all telling something else. Wikipedia sais over 50.000.000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_Park_discography The German-Wikipedia sais over 75.000.000. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linkin_Park/Diskografie And the third side tells me, that they have sold over 120.000.000, confirmed by the label itself. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_albums_has_Linkin_Park_sold Now the question is: Witch side tells the truth?
Over 120 million seems way too high. I'm pretty sure 50 million was the number before MTM came out, so I guess the 75 million estimate is probably closest.
Hybrid Theory sold around 24 million worldwide. Meteora is around 10 million. Minutes To Midnight sold 3.3 million its first week worldwide, but I can't find a total number. I'm guessing around 5 to 6 million total. ATS sold 270k its first week in the US and 70k in the second week. So it's safe to say it probably hasn't reached 1 million in the US. I have no idea about worldwide. Maybe 1 or 2 million. So they've probably sold around 43 million albums worldwide. They've been one of the most successful acts since 2000, which just shows how hard it is to sell records now these days when they can't even make platinum in the US.
What?! NINE THOUSAND!!!!! in all seriousness I think it's close to 50 million total, does it matter though really? Maybe if you work for Warner Bros.
Not necessarily. You just have to be discerning when you come across something that may not be true. The two sources on Wikipedia don't contradict each other. One says they've sold over 50 million and the one from the German Wikipedia says they've sold over 75 million, so it's possible for both to be correct. However, the German one doesn't cite sources so you should take it with a pinch of salt. The English one cites the Times which is a decent enough source. All in all, Travz' post is most likely right. It's either just under 50 or maybe slightly over. Either way, it probably would get rounded to 50.
As I am writing this now, someone is downloading some Linkin Park songs for free on a file sharing program
