This comment is a tad old, dating back in September, and normally I just go on Blabbermouth to laugh at the insanely idiotic posts that the users have about any band that isn't what they consider metal. Then, I come across this overly awesome comment *WARNING - It's an uberlong intelligent kick-ass post. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=146220
I mean it is though. Dude starts off doing the whole "angry kid" routine which in itself is a Linkin Park stereotype and then proceeds to explain that the main, if not only possible, reason that those people aren't digging the album is because it's not br00tal rawk and they're simply afraid of mixing it up a bit. Besides the whole "You don't like _______ therefore you must like Justin Beiber herp hur a'duur", it's one of the worst arguments you can actually do to defend a band. He's insisting that because of his 'variety' of musical interests (which really isn't impressive) he's somehow privy to hidden musical intricacy they aren't, and while someone with a broad spectrum of music interests would probably enjoy Linkin Park more than "the metalheads" would, he's arguing this viewpoint in the worst way possible.
It's nice that a fan tries to defend the band. But in all honesty, i don't see why? The band doesn't need defending, especially from people whose minds are already made up. It's either you get them or you don't. If you don't, move the hell on: i guess its the people who can't move on that really bother me more than the people who just outright hate them who are at least exhibiting some form of passion.(although, a bloody waste of energy if ever) A band is like a train traveling cross country, at least the ones who are destined to be relevant. The route they decide to take is completely up to the driver who are the band members. If you liked the city they started from, you hop on. If the train then took a route you never saw coming that doesn't please you, you are free to get off at the next station. You can rendezvous with the train if you and it end up in a new city that you find that you like with the train heading in a route that you love. Anyone can hop onto the train ride at different points of the cross country trip. You can even hop on for the whole ride. *substitute your own lame metaphor to make better sense*
When I read that "paragraph", I don't even think he is a fan of LP :| Though, I like the idea, the same formula applies to every single album make the band.....boring.
In a more general sense I think I'd agree, but this is Blabbermouth so I'd have thought a good deal of the criticism actually is over it not being br00tal kvlt grimdark metal.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with the stuff that gets said on Blabbermouth on a regular basis, but everything he said about the other posters is pretty much spot on. Blabbermouth comments are worse than YouTube comments for blatant stupidity.
If writing a wall of useless text is a sensible outburst, then okay. But the only good outcome of this post is he got posted on some LP forum. He probably changed no one's minds at Blabbermouth and no one cared.
I think this was badass. So it wasn't in paragraphs? Does that mean you physically can't read it? lol
I like this rant! Wow. He's got some of my respect for being something sweet in a haystack of bitterness.
I'm still not seeing how his tantrum is any better than theirs just because it was pro-LP. Seems to me as he really doesn't know much about metal at all, like he already knew about bands like Black Sabbath and Motorhead, went Google hunting for about 5 minutes and pounded out this wall of text to educate 'fellow metalheads'. Blabbermouths full of derps, I'll concede that much. I'm not entirely sure how someone demanding a thesis of why something is bad before you can criticize it is but so much better.
Lmao this is so boss. It's so true that haters didn't even pick up the album before bashing it - they heard early on that it wasn't Hybrid Theory or Meteora and instantly hated it. LOOOSERS.
