Good news mobile visitors! We've made some adjustments to the site that we feel will make your LPA experience a lot more enjoyable:

- Mobile Enabled Main Site

With the LPA design being very graphically intensive, it may be hard for some people to properly load our website on less capable smartphones (Blackberries), or in areas where 3G or 4G data speeds are not available. Because of this, we have created a stripped mobile version of our main site that will auto-launch on any internet enabled Smartphone. Launched back with LPA 4.0 in February 2010, this mobile skin possess most of the content already available on our full site (News, Site Updates, Lyrics, and Tour Dates), but provides a quick and convenient way to access Linkin Park related news and information without needing access to a desktop or laptop computer. As always, people who wish to view the site normally on their phone may click on "Full Site" however be warned, not all features may work properly on your smartphone. Also, this feature has been known to not work on iPads and Android tablets, as those tablets are powerful enough to load the main site and will not require the mobile skin.

- Mobile Forum Skin

While many members can already use our current default forum skin without any difficulty on their mobile, we have decided to still provide an option of a sleek mobile only skin available for those who would like to post on the LPA quickly without long load times or the added bells and whistles of the regular forum skin. By choosing "Mobile Style" in the skin selection menu, your phone will automatically be redirected to the mobile version of our boards. The option to edit posts and quote posts currently does not exist in the mobile skin but as vBulletin upgrades their Mobile Style, we hope to present this option to you in the future. The shoutbox also does not exist in the Mobile Style, but much like with the main site, clicking on "Full Site" will allow you to use the full skin if you so desire and thus the shoutbox as well. However; keep in mind the "full site" feature may not work on all phones, so please only use the Mobile Style if you feel the regular skin loads too slow.

-Tapatalk

As many of you have noticed via the prompt that comes up the first time you visit our forums on a smartphone, we now have integration with Tapatalk. Many of our users have used Tapatalk with the LPA and enjoyed it greatly. You can find out more about it at http://www.tapatalk.com .

------

As always, thanks for visiting The Linkin Park Association and feel free to let us know of any suggestions you may have!

As part of our ongoing efforts to better serve you our valued visitors, we have made several new changes our Main Navigation. Below are the list of changes:

  • LPA Media: Don't worry, the gallery has gone nowhere! In order to better serve you our visitors, we have combined both the Downloads and Gallery menu choices into one big Media category to make both easier to find.
  • "Connect" becomes LPA: Rather than separate the LPA section and Connect, our Facebook, Twitter, Last.Fm, Youtube and Site History can now be found under the "LPA" section. This was done to conserve space and allow us to add two new menu sections which are:
  • LPA Store - Show your support for the LPA by purchasing one of our many shirt designs through our official online store. All proceeds go towards making the site better, and improving the experience for YOU our valued visitors.
  • LPA Wiki - The Linkin Park Wiki is a collaborative project between The Linkin Park Association and the Linkin Park fan community to bring together fans across the globe and create the most comprehensive and in-depth Linkin Park resource on the internet. With this wiki we intend to create the ultimate Linkin Park "listeners guide", a place for new and and old fans alike to find all the information they need with just a simple click of the mouse.
We hope you enjoy and understand these new changes, and we look forward to unveiling even more new updates within the upcoming months. Thank you for your support!

Alternatively if you have a LOT of images from one show, you may create a zip file and email it to inquiries[at]lpassociation.com. Please be sure to notate what show it is from and what date/venue it was in the email.

As you may have noticed we have been making some changes on the main forums. After some planning and user feedback we have decided to go ahead with the following changes.

  • LP Chat & Albums have now been consolidated into one forums. We have merged all of the posts from Albums to LP Chat and now all LP talk will be centred in one place.
  • Tour and Live Bootlegs have been consolidated into a singular forum for any discussions regarding live performances or bootlegs.
  • Recording Studio - We have added a new Forum Sub-Section "Your Projects" which is dedicated to your own work and projects. Recording Studio is designed to divide Other Music from your own music, allowing people to easier navigate to threads about your own band and whatever audio projects / remixes you're working on.

We'll be carrying out some other minor changes over the next couple days too, including Thread Descriptions etc. We hope you like the changes and feel free to give your thoughts and opinions on the forums, along with any ideas you may have. Thanks!

Hello LP fans, we're working on a very fun project for the site and we need your help to make it a reality.

Here's what we need you to do:

1. Grab a sharpie/marker and a piece of paper.
2. Write down a personal thank you message to the band (1-3 words preferrably) on the piece of paper, starting the message with "Thank you for".
3. Using your digital camera (preferred) or your webcam, take a picture of you holding the sign in clear view with your face showing. Please make sure the text is very legible in the picture.
4. Send the picture to submissions@lpassociation.com with the subject "Thank You Submission".

Deadline for submissions is October 16th (5 days from now).

We will reveal what this project is all about within a few weeks once we receive enough pictures, but for now we NEED your photos to make this project happen. Without them we cannot create this project, because its fueled by YOU the fans. All it takes is 5 minutes of your time, and 5 minutes is nothing when it comes to thanking your favorite band, right?

NOTE: Please try to have pictures in high resolution. Nothing extremely small please.

Greetings LPA!

With the recent leak/release of Linkin Park's newest album "A Thousand Suns", there has been a lot of activity, excitement and discussion on these forums over the band's dramatic shift in sound, and many of our valued members have been very passionate about their opinions and feelings towards the music as a whole. However; while most of the discussion has been well thought out and respectful, we have also noticed a steady decline in the mood of some the new threads, and we felt we should address this issue head on before it becomes a greater problem.

Over the past few days there has been a increasingly negative reaction towards any member who states their dislike for A Thousand Suns or who posts a review of the album that is not favorable or 100% positive. Replies to said posts have been everything from obscene pictures, telling certain members to leave the boards, or even quoting Mike from the new album with the often used "try and catch up motherf***a". This behavior is not only casting a negative impression on the site as a whole, but also completely unacceptable in general.

I must kindly ask all of you to remember (as a whole) that the new album will not be everyone's cup of tea, and that not every Linkin Park fan will appreciate the new direction the band has taken with their sound. While we understand there have been many trolls signing up to call the new album "[insert slur here]" and many others who have expressed their distaste in an unintelligent fashion, there have also been many very intelligent members, with well worded opinions, who have been attacked solely for not thinking ATS is the "greatest album ever".

This needs to change immediately. Starting now, I must ask our ATS-Loving members to please try and respect the opinions/criticism of those who don't like the album. While there is certainly nothing wrong with holding a friendly debate between view-points...when the posts begin to grow disrespectful, that's when our things have gone too far.

Regards,
Derek

Attention Forum Members,
With Linkin Park's new album coming out in a little over a month, and forum traffic dramatically increasing as a result, we here at The Linkin Park Association have felt it necessary to put our collective foots down, and address a growing issue on our forums... which is the existence of trolls.

What is a troll you ask?

Courtesy of Urban Dictionary, a troll is:

"One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevance to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue."

With every new album release, the existence of trolls posting in threads increases ten fold, and unfortunately the hype surrounding A Thousand Suns has been no exception. Since the announcement of "A Thousand Suns" over a month ago, we have had many new members sign up solely for the purpose of causing arguments in threads or with the intention of spreading malicious behavior and negativity in every thread they come across.

These trolls not only represent everything that is inherently wrong with the internet, but also cast a negative cloud of the forums they inhabit, driving old members away, while creating the appearance of an unwelcoming forum to those who have yet to join and contribute to the boards.

Therefore, due to the recent rise in trolls, we have been left with no choice but to implement a new policy. For now on, any member deemed to be a "troll" by a majority of the forum's staff and it's members, will be put on a two strike policy...and will be given only two chances to quit their antagonizing/trolling behavior before they are banned from the forums indefinitely. While this may seem a bit strong, we refuse to let our peaceful and positive forum community be derailed by attention seeking trolls, and will do whatever we can to protect the integrity and community aspect of The Linkin Park Association for our existing members and new members alike.

It should be noted that this policy does not apply to all members, and those who break a rule (but are not a troll/antagonizing member) will still adhere to the normal three infraction policy currently implemented on these boards. The LPA will also only deem a member a troll if the majority of the boards have remarked or complained that the member in question serves no contributing purpose and is only here to cause a problem on these boards.

We hope these new changes, while sudden...will help the LPA continue to grow, and will help to maintain the community aspect that has made it such a welcoming forum over the past nine years. Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your continued support.

Also one more thing in closing: we here at The Linkin Park Association do not tolerate members bringing feuds over from other fan sites onto our boards. This happens far too often, and we do not need the forums to be littered with such mindless garbage. Therefore, if you have previously gotten into an argument with a member of our boards on another fan site, please leave your arguments on that site as they have no business being on here. We are not the site you just came from. This is The Linkin Park Association, not [insert site name]. Thank you.

Thanks,
LPA Staff

Are you excited for the A Thousand suns tour? Well to hype it up even more we have just posted exclusive scans from "Tour Guide Journal - Issue 5 / 2008", which gives a really detailed behind the scenes analysis of what actually goes on at a Linkin Park show. It highlights all the unsung heroes of the live experience and is a pretty interesting read. Go check out all 8 pages, starting here.

Special thanks to ana.
