I've been taking different programming classes at school. They just switched over from teaching C++ to Java last year. I was wondering (if there are any programmers among our midst) which is more widely used. Or for that matter is C# used at all yet?
Well I'm still in High School, but I have taken one year of C++ plus some study of my own. I took the AP C++ A exam at the end of last year independently and ended up with a score of 5. Java I have now taken one year of also and will take another this coming school year (which prepares us for the AP Java B exam), and so will end my HS years. Does that answer enough or is there something else I can tell? Oh I forgot to mention that I know HTML, and some Javascript, but those are somewhat lower level programming languages (at least in my opinion). My best creation with C++ was something I wrote for my job (real estate) which takes user input (Name of seller, address etc) and creates a webpage/brochure which can then be uploaded to the site and printed to be sold as flyers.
I was just curious BTW, they're both standards now (C++ and Java). So if you know them both, you're in good shape. CHoosing which to use is now just a user preference..
Well I actually thought Java was harder in some areas but that is because I learned C++ first. It is easier in developing classes though, I'll give it that. lol, hey paint is awesome to kill time in boring history classes.
