This feels like it was made in a day when the band tried to write a lead single for "A Thousand Suns", but they dropped the idea pretty qucikly because they weren't "on some What I've Done shit". Personally, I think this track is really cool. Really loving the chorus melody, and would love to see one of you talented fucks to develop it more, be it a cover with lyrics or a mash up.
I actually did the same thing Chester did and babbled words inchoherently over the chorus and second verse and it sounded pretty cool. If i didnt hate recording at home so much Id re do the song, but i seriously CANNOT STAND recording music in my house.
You're definitely not the only one, Captain. I did not find this demo extraordinary, but rather interesting and insightful. If you watch Mike's Track-by-Track video explaining the concept of this demo, you'll learn why it was recorded the way it was, with the purposely rough vocals and all. Although these videos originate on the LPU site, I'm sure someone has uploaded them to YouTube by now.
I came up with an idea for the chorus, but nothing I really wanna pursue. https://soundcloud.com/brandon-roman-lenz/toolegit-chorus-demo-idea_121915/s-dDuhB [Lyrics] Break the dawn Pass the days leaving everything to waste Take it in End the strife Bringing everything to Life Ohhh Ohhh
This is a very solid start to what lyrics may sound like for "TooLeGit". The only thing I would change would be the "oh" part for more lyrics. I also like that you came up with lyrics that sound pretty close to what LP would write.
Appreciate the feedback. To go a little more in depth with this, I actually did end up writing more to the song, but felt it was a tad too simple. A couple guys over at LPL asked me to finish this so I might just end up doing so when I have time and share it here as well. the ohhh's are mostly there for that "LP feel", but would ultimately be used as background vocals.
Damn, I can't believe almost an entire month has passed since this thread was active! It really doesn't feel like it was all that long ago that "TooLeGit" was released. Has anyone had any ideas for either remixing or extending this demo, given its great potential? If I were more musically inclined, I would consider taking a shot at making my own version of the song. Actually, has anyone tried remixing or extending any of the demos released, so far?
