Wait, wasn't that you that said that Mike should never rap again in that AFN thread?

Never rap again in a Linkin Park song*. I think Shinoda's a good rapper but I would like LP to be a legit rock band.

I'm the opposite; I'd prefer that he never rap outside of Linkin Park ever again

Mixing rock and rap has been done and done again. It had been done well, it has been done bad. There is no point in Linkin Park still doing something that died 10 years ago.

But no-one else is doing what Linkin Park are doing right now. These things happen in waves

I may be wrong, but what I'm getting out of this is that many of you don't like the lyrics Mike provides nowdays. Not specifically his delivery.

Now, if you in fact are talking about his delivery, so be it, but I seriously don't see how one could even make that analogy up against something from Fort Minor.
His rap flow on Keys to the Kingdom is one, if not, the most technical delivery he has done in his career. All For Nothing (tho you may complain about the lyrics, despite this being an old school PUNK influenced album which many of you fail to understand) has a very powerful delivery that's clear and straight to the point. Wastelands and ALITS have a nice flow, but nothing that Shinoda hasn't shown us in the past.

Wastelands is my favorite rap off THP, just ahead of KTTK and AFN.

    Deal with it.

Unfortunately for you, that makes sense

The rap on wastelands is one of the more interesting things about the song.

It doesn't matter if it's the most "technical", that doesn't automatically make it sound good or enjoyable, not to me at least. You can have the most technical and versatile flow, but if you don't have the lyrics to back it up it still sounds like shit. I never denied that they made exactly what they intended to do with THP, it's influences are very clear, but it's coming from something I never liked to begin with. I was pretty much guaranteed to not like that album. I will agree that Mike's flow on FM could be considered dull or flat, but it's the lyrics and themes that made "The Rising Tied" so great to me.

I want to make one thing clear though, I said I never liked the lyrics, I never said I didn't like the flow on "All for Nothing". While it's true I've grown to really dislike that song, I won't deny that Mike's flow on it is perhaps the best thing he's ever done in that regard, but his lyrics bring the whole thing down for me, but considering the style of song it is it had to be that way. I was mainly referring to "Keys to the Kingdom", it's interesting to say the least, but it's not something I'd ever want to hear again. I'm all for Mike experimenting with new styles by all means, I welcome that. I just don't want to hear any of the "tough guy" lines he's been giving us for so many years now. I will admit he's found a new confidence and style to bring to his raps, if he can bring that with lyrics that are actually meaningful (Which was what FM's themes mainly consisted of), then this will no doubt make a potentially great album.

Noooooooo, I'm not supposed to fucking make sense, what is this!?

My favorite rap is now the one on Drawbar :kappa:

Btw, everyone is aware that the lines "Yes I'm half Anglo, half-fried panko" in KTTK refers to his Japanese heritage, right? Because some other people I've talked to don't get that.

That reminds me of Fort Minor's "Get Me Gone": "Yeah you know, I don't know about the rapping like, I don't know... maybe you should just be a rock band."

Well first of all, it's pretty clear to me that something is DEFINITELY happening.

And I can't wait. I loved The Rising Tied.
