Linkin Park band member Mike Shinoda has collaborated with the world-famous watchmakers Bamford Watch Department to produce a unique high-end timepiece. The collaboration was first hinted at last month in an Instagram post. The limited-edition M.SHINODA x BWD Daytona is a Super Matte black Rolex Daytona which features Bamford's unique titanium coating. Shinoda's personal contribution includes custom artwork on the clock face - specifically, a skull image which eagle-eyed fans of his work may remember from his 2009 art show "Glorious Excess (Dies)". Shinoda has written about the collaboration, and its place among other official Linkin Park apparel, in a new blog entry: Bamford's page for the product describes the watch having "a vintage look, with reduced text simplifying the dial and making it unique whilst remaining classic". Additionally, the page includes words from BWD's founder George Bamford about the piece and working with Shinoda: Enterprising fans and/or timepiece enthusiasts can find out more about the luxury watch and ask about its price on the product page. Linkin Park's official website, of course, features a "collaborations" section where fans can find out about other recent and not-so-recent projects of this nature that have involved the band members. It isn't Linkin Park merchandise, obviously, but it is apparel intended to be worn and intended to be functional.
Mike is a professional when it comes to things so I always expect his stuff to be great. Expensive most probably but great.
There are different markets for him to reach, which allows him to try a variety of different things. There are things for "the average fans" and things for people who can afford luxury items. But you're right; even tour merch is a little overpriced to most of us
So who's going to ask about the price so we can get an idea of how heart stoppingly expensive this is going to be?
I really can't imagine a rich LP fan The band themselves looked like such cheap fucks (no offense intended, I mean that in a good way) in their nu-metal days. I don't understand what part of this fanbase is this elite, limited edition expensive watch buying, rare stuff collector fan. But I guess they do exist.
This watch wasn't a watch for the fanbase. It isn't a Mike Shinoda watch. It's a Bamford watch designed in collaboration with Mike Shinoda. The parka wasn't for Linkin Park fans either. It was for snowboarders. Point is, not everything Mike Shinoda does is for Linkin Park fans.
This is a Rolex Daytona in black, without the special MS branding: http://www.luxuryofwatches.com/rolex-daytona-116520r-dlc-pvd/?gclid=CPjJ5qz7yMMCFRNp7Aod8UoAUA If it's that much without MS attached to it, you can probably expect this puppy to fetch 25-30k easily. Definitely something 0.00001% of fans will be able to afford haha.
^ This. That the band members do things like this is part of Linkin Park's brand now, hence why there's a page on linkinpark.com covering it all, but the products themselves aren't made specifically with the fans in mind.
