I feel like ATS' opener will 'win', but I will always love "Opening". It's so beautiful and simple, and it lets you know that Reanimation wouldn't be like most other remix albums.
I always liked how Meteora, MTM, and ATS all had dedicated intro tracks (although the one on Meteora was 13 seconds long). It gave you a buildup to the music to come. Especially The Requiem, which foreshadows all of the album to come by taking different parts from the other tracks on the album.
Yeah... I don't understand they didn't continue that trend to their succeeding records like LT & THP. LOST IN THE ECHO would be more amazing if tied with an album intro (e.g. Holding Company demo intro or even the 2012 Extended Intro).
I think KTTK is a great opener for THP, it sets the energy level for the album I guess. Opening is best though. Wake is pretty cool too(wake 2.0 is cooler), and so is requiem and foreword. I don't like LITE as a song. I don't think it serves any purpose. That's the thing with LT, songs on MTM, ATS or THP(or even Meteora) have something of a common theme to them but LT doesn't seem to, it just seems like a collection of energetic songs. It doesn't seem like an album to me.
Maybe because that was their mindset at that time? Mike even mentioned in MOATS that they are no longer albums (which to say making from scratch), maybe that what leads to LIVING THINGS?
Lost in the Echo is my favorite song out of these by far. But in the context of how well things open an album, I chose the ATS opening. I wonder if the LITE extended intro was originally intended to be a separate opening track for LT, I would freaking love for them to release a special edition with that opening. Maybe they didn't want to give the impression they were trying to echo meteora.
They are all the right way to open an album, great songs. My favourite one is Papercut, Opening is awesome as well.
