BTW, Mike can sing well live. Blackout, In Between, Iridescent, and the later half of Rebellion for example. I don't understand why he doesn't sing the entire song in that key, sure they'd probably have to make a few slight adjustments to the rest of the song but he sounds really good. It just seems he has trouble with the lower vocals than the higher.
Remember that the BTH demo is just that: a demo. The vocals on the track are there purely to outline the melody idea.
So people think Mike's singing vocal scatting on BTH demo negates his singing vocal parts on Burning in the Skies, Iridescent, Castle of Glass, Rebellion, In Between, No Roads Left, The Catalyst, Blackout and Roads Untraveled?
Do I need to put in big, flashing, underlined, bold, and italic red letters that it was a joke? Good God. Calm down people. If I hated Mike's singing I wouldn't be here in the first place.
The mall soundtrack, as well as NRL, IB, and other songs show that he has a pretty decent range and can deliver vocally. I think what's interesting is that it's always his voice on the softer stuff, with exceptions like Rebellion. I think what we all really want is more softer material like Last Line, Devil's Drop etc. Chester can sing on that too and it would be great, think about Not Alone.
Mike should just stick with his rapping and try to improve and work on his flow like HTEP/HT, and let Chester sing.
Actually, Mike's singing on So Far Away was amazing, especially since it was from 1996, before Mike was even comfortable about singing on an LP record..
