I'm writing this here, now, on the LPA. All I have is the opening line. I don't even know if I'll end up posting this or not, but I will try to make something out of it.

why_ can I not hear_ the bark_ of a dog
inside_ I'd kept you near_ for long_ running dawn
    bleed_ ever there_ here again
hear_ bellowed in_ yelled at wind

they placed it up against / a brothel's rusty fence
along the way we could hear / the bodies' breath
they seemed to worship the daze / of nights long lost / and amazed
how they were at our gaze
please let us tread our walk
I said / nobody could stop them / all I hear is the talk
    an indescribable bark
would you have killed them yourself / a bloody trace on the sand
a bullet flickering through / in a way / it's what killed you
over time and tonight / and there are spots in your eyes
blocking out all of the light / destroying you in your sleep
in a way / it's what killed me

    no heavens
    I'm rid of hell
    an endless
    circular spell

no, I_ cannot hear_ the bark_ of a dog
lost_ I'd kept you blind_ running fog
    heal_ ever here_ there again
mute_ bellowed out_ into the dark
