I really like that they're taking the heavy direction with their music, and While THP is probably my first or second favorite album, I hope that, if they decide to stay heavy, their next album tracklist is like this: 1. Wake 2. Given Up 3. Given Up 4. Given Up 5. Bleed It Out 6. Given Up 7. Given Up 8. Given Up 9. Session 10. In Pieces 11. Pushing Me Away 12. A Line In The Sand
Watch out, "Oh, no heavy bullshit anymore plz" comments are coming. I don´t mind what they do next. Maybe get rid, once and for all, of safe songs like Wastelands, UIG, or I´ll Be Gone (Note that I said safe, and not bad). Make each track, whatever the style, as daring and awesome as The Catalyst, Waiting for the End, Keys to the Kingdom, or A Line in the Sand. That´s all I can ask for.
I agree with everything you said. I want LP to just make unique, good songs. But if they go for the heavy route, hopefully it won't be as raw as THP, as you can see, I think they nailed the heavy in Given Up by having it be aggressive but not excessively raw.
Watch out, preemptive hate against potential hate is coming. But, I agree with you. Toss the shit they can make in their sleep and let's see something more creative, regardless of the genre.
I would like them take a heavy style with a good layering of electronics with it. While Until It's gone's chorus was less than impressive, their instrumentation of that song was really good. The percussion during the verses I especially liked. Also, I would like to see them go back to writing bridges as opposed to simply putting a solo there. The whole solo bridge was nice but almost every song having them kind of left disappointed unless it was really good like Keys to the Kingdom, War or A Line in the Sand. I would like the band to also explore more with Mike Singing and rapping during verses.
A line in the sand is the future sound of LP, its what every one wanted, it has that ATS feeling with that HT heavyness its just epic possibly one of the Best LP songs imo, the message of it is powerful, with mike singing/rapping and chester screaming, it will be a classic in due time.
Why you constantly say this is beyond me. How can a track that summarizes all the past sounds of one band be the future sound of the band? Whatever they do is fine with me. If I were to choose, I'd put out that Best of heavy Linkin Park CD with Guilty repeated 20 times.
I really loved every single album of the band, and I wouldn't mind if they get into electro-rock again for their next album.
Can we agree that this conversation is a pointless endeavour. We have literally not one single clue as to where the band will go next. I'm pretty sure no one has prematurely guessed the direction of the next album. Whatever you say you want out of this band, hate to break the news, you're probably not going to get it. Another thing I don't think has been said on this forum: that album was exactly what I wanted. Give it up!
Except I've said for the last 3 months how the best parts of The Hunting Party were exactly what I wanted...
I think it would be pretty cool if LP took a more Ambient direction with their next record, similar to what was found on Drawbar, and parts of MTG and ALITS. But more than likely, I seem them doing more of a continuation of what THP was trying to do. Making the big statment they did with that album, only to back out of it, and make more "herbivorous" music would seem a bit hypocritical on Mike's part. THIS!
Well, I think they still have to hit up Europe. They'll probably go to Asia and Australia, too. Then my guess would be back to their homes in California. Joe did mention in his LPU chat that they were doing another US tour after everything, but I have a suspicion that he was being sarcastic.
