ALITS is definitely my favorite LP song, but the "rap" section was extremely underwhelming. I think I fixed that...

It really doesn't fit, the version in the original was a slow-build to the Chester chorus, this one just seems like you wanted more "intense" rapping because the song is "intense".

 

Honestly that's what I was going for, I felt that the original showed everything that LP was truly capable of, except for rapping, so I tried to make it pop. I also tried using the raps from Victimized, Wastelands, and All For Nothing because I thought that the lyrics would at least fit a little better (especially Victimized), but the flow just wasn't right for the music.

 

I think you broke ALITS.

 

A song isn't doing it's job if it makes people want to ''fix'' it.

 

My first thought when I heard the album was: "I can't wait for the multitrack to get out there so I can strip the rapping and see what I can do about the mixing."

And that desire hasn't gone away... COME ON MULTITRACKS!

Pointless. He never referred to the whole world loving a song, if he wanted to, then he would have said "A song isn't doing it's job if a bunch of people bash or hate on it". Obviously he meant specifically with the editing of this track and the amount of complaints it received over small aspects of mixing and lyrics.

Anyway, I always thought this was a solid song with the exception to Chester's vocals. They are too muffled by the instrumental and need an extra boost or dual vocals. I'd work it up myself, but I'm too lazy.

Especially those cringeworthy gang vocals in Iridescent, ya know...

I am not really into gang vocals, especially when they´re used in those arena rock kind of songs ^^`
