From my understanding this reboot will follow the original manga version very closely. I haven't checked out the manga ever and I'm not planning to, so I can't say as to whether or not the team succeeded in giving the manga justice. The progression in episode 1 is nearly identical to that of the original animated series'. Strange enough this iteration is somehow far more bearable. The intro song is a mixed bag. I love the beginning and ending of the track, but the chorus definitely throws away any sort of charm the rest of the song harbored. Overall, I dug the first episode. Nothing too celebratory other than the fact that the show has finally been broadcast.
Are they going to animate every episode or are they cutting out filler episodes? 'Cause that's a ton of episodes to get through, and I'm not sure I want to make that commitment.

I liked the first episode. I sort of have issues with the way their bodies are drawn but yeah. I haven't read the manga so I can't really compare to that. So far I kind of like the few things that differ from the earlier anime
