I know it's a lot to ask for, but some numbers for Eminem would be greatly appreciated. Other bands that I'm sure people would appreciate knowing some numbers about are: 30 Seconds To Mars, Nine Inch Nails, Coldplay and Deftones.

Is the total copies sold, all upto today's date? And pr album, is it the total of upto today's date, or a specific time period? So how does Metallica, Guns and Roses, and all typical rock bands doing compared to LP?
So Hybrid Theory alone sold more than the entire Muse discography. I wouldn't have though that, it's pretty impressive.
What's frightening is just one of Nickelback's albums almost did the same thing. I can't believe "All The Right Reasons" sold over 11 million copies. Like how the fuck. Who's next!?

Dookie sold more than American Idiot? Never would have thought. Probably because more people bought albums in '94 than in '04.
Dookie had 5 songs that got a ton of radio play: Longview, Basket Case, and When I Come Around are still played to this day; She and Welcome to Paradise were moderately successful. Few others like Burnout were fan hits. This in a time when you couldn't buy individual songs and mp3s and AOL were just gettin off the ground. If you wanted it, you pretty much just bought the whole cd. I suppose you could make an argument that Idiot was a concept album which would encourage buying the whole thing, especially after it became a broadway play. Still, technology marches on.
Dookie was a game changer when it came out, American Idiot was right-place-right-time music. They capitalized on global anti-Americanism in a massive way in 04, where in 94 they were pushing songs on their own merit.
Dookie is basically the best record they've ever released. It was pretty much the reason punk rock became popular again and influenced a shitload of bands for the next, like, two decades.

I'm surprised Linkin Park has sold more than Coldplay. Then again, that Hybrid Theory and Meteora success would do it. Coldplay's 2008-present sales are a lot higher though. I wonder how well the sales of The Hunting Party will compare with Ghost Stories.
