The thing is that it's par for the course with Chester. You wouldn't expect Dave Grohl to be able to handle the same thing, so it's extraordinary when he does.
Does it matter? It's not really a who has the bigger dick sort of competition, I doubt either of them care about the media coverage. Fair play to both for getting on with their shows for the fans, rather than cancelling it like so many others would.

EDIT 2: I watched "Mystery Men" quite a few times as a child and I completely forgot that a Smash Mouth song - the Smash Mouth song - was used in it, and that the music video for that song was subsequently made to promote the movie.
